Some thoughts on what has transpired....

It's a Class E felony, if I'm not mistaken, and that is the lowest one you can get. Given the fact that he probably doesn't have an adult record, he will plea down to some form of misdemeanor (if he knows he's guilty), probably not serve any jail time, have some fines and community service, and probably be on 6 months to a year of probation. By all means though, keep trying to associate felony with this making Cam a terrible person, your doing a great job.

yea, slap on the wrist, maybe Dooley lowers the boom on him and makes him stand in the corner, that will teach him. Looks like it was tried to be handled in house, and it didn't work. cam's the type of person you would want to invite over to your house, give a sat of keys, introduce him to your daughter.

He deserves another chance, but not here.

So if he pleads it down, does that mean he didn't have a stolen laptop?

Most everything like this, from what I am told from a cop customer of mine, especially given the amount that it is, is usually pleaded down to no contest or a guilty plea. That's just how the law works in the court room.

Not what I asked. If he pleads down to j walking, he still had the laptop, it wasn't his.

...and then the thief has a prior on his record the next time he commits a felony. Then he goes to jail where he belongs.

I thought Dooley was recruiting only "high character" guys so we weren't going to have these issues anymore. All embarassments under Dooley were supposed to occur ON the field.

So, your still going to be outraged if he's on the team?? I can think of several key players on our late '90s teams that did much worse than Cam possibly did.

No, that is just my opinion. I think Dooley needs to send a message to the team, and to Cam. It might be the best thing that has happened to him, if he learns from it. Cam will be a superstar somewhere else if he learns.

And I guarantee if he does go somewhere else and shine, that UT fans will be whining, especially if this all becomes a slap on the wrist. That's par for the course for most UT fans though.

I've never missed a single felon, and I won't miss Cam either.

I really hope he does, I wish him the best. God knows that I have made my mistakes, but I had to pay the price and learn from them. A slap on the wrist, does he really learn.

Obviously nobody should be looking for legal advice here, but to state that an E felony is not a big deal, in a public forum, is inaccurate and irresponsible.

Cam is also facing a D felony, not an E.

I think that at this point................ it is out of Dooley's hands.

What do you legal scholars think?

Ok, let me ask you a question, do you think he deserves to spend 2-6 years in jail possibly for this crime he is accused, and not yet convicted of?? The charge is almost always worse at first, than it ends up being, especially with things like this.

A thief is a thief, Eric. This isn't the first time this has happened with him.

Yeah . . . I'm all for second chances, but if the allegation is true, this one is really hard to explain away without losing all credibility.
