I would say either those stats are wrong or this guy is a placeholder until we find someone better because I have never seen a linebacker that slow contribute at this level. Maybe they see him growing into a lineman... but that is a lot of growing.

Those numbers were from when he was around 14-15 years old. He's going to play ILB anyways.

I think in order to demonstrate this guy is not a quality pick, you both have to dissect this guy's ability (per his film) AND explain to the forum why Sal Sunseri is unqualified to make judgments about a linebacker's ability to help our team. On this second point, it might be helpful to look into Sal's resume and background with linebackers and explain to the forum the weaknesses in that resume.

I anxiously await that second analysis from anyone who is negative on this pick. I actually would find it helpful. I come to this forum to learn more about my team, first and foremost, so I'd be interested for someone to tell me more about Sal Sunseri's ability (or inability) to evaluate linebacker talent.

Sal's background shows he's been around All-American and All-Pro types for a while now. Pretty sure he knows a good LB when he sees one. I'm going to sit back and watch this kid develop even more as a senior. He showed great improvement from Soph. to Junior years. Zanca also developed a lot physically. He's getting faster, stronger, and more explosive as he gets older. I like his potential to be a big rugged ILB type for us.

After watching this guy's film, I am pretty impressed. I am not sure how the competition is but he seems to dominate in the Junior Film. His Sophomore film is pretty good as well. His ability to shed blocks and make plays is great. Watch his hand placement and how he splits double teams. Not to mention how fast he gets off the line of scrimmage.

People seem to forget that we are switching to a 3-4. An inside linebackers isn't being asked to make sideline to sideline plays. It is great when they do but they will be taking on may guards and centers that they will have avoid, go through, or shed the block in a way that allows them to make a play. This kid has that. 4.4 speed is less important than block shedding for a Inside linebacker in a 3-4. Brandon Spikes ran a 5.00 in the combine but if I remember correctly he dominated. I am pretty sure everyone else thought he was pretty good too...

Met Zanca earlier, I'll post the pic later but I told him congrats on being a Vol. he said he is going to try & be a EE.

Everybody he touches gets their ass knocked to the ground no matter if they have the ball or not. I like this kid. Looks to have vision and closes the distance very quick.

I just watched his soph highlights where he actually plays linebacker and it's easy to see why both Wilcox and sunseri love him. He does not let you block him. He blast through blocks to make the play and is just a bull out there. A lot of our guys have been easy to block and not shed blocks very well during our fall.

Dude is strong, a HIGH motor and flat blows up plays.. Also, he DOES NOT give up on plays... I like him.. Seems to be quick enough, 6'3", 230lb and a 4.3 shuttle.. Not to bad..
