The Runner's thread

Wow. Awesome pace. Trail run?

Lulz. I wish. It was a 10k that was 6.35 miles long. I was on a 9:30 pace till I hurt my toe. Finished in 1 hr 16 min. My toe is swollen & purple today but I think it should be good in a couple if days.

Took last week off. It was much needed with the amount of hours I worked and the fact that I haven't really taken more than three days off from running or working out in over a year. Now that I am rested I can't wait to start back today.

Did the Krispy Kreme Challange (officially endorsed by Philip Fulmer) yesterday and am still feeling it today. Not eating another donut for a long long time.

I have a friend of mine that has done three of those challanges and I still don't know how he make it through one much less the other two.

Ran the hardest 4 miles I've done in a while. Anyone ever run at the Lakeshore Greenway? A very difficult greenway. Fist mile is primarily downhill and the second is nearly all uphill. Did two loops like that. Was able to keep a steady pace the first loop and then fell apart the second. Those hills were killer.

I started out running at Lakeshore. The hills aren't long but they're so steep that they'll absolutely kill your legs and your energy. I eventually just started running out to 1.5 and back so I didn't have to hit that huge hill (more of a vertical wall if you ask me) right after the 1.5 mile marker, :D.

5 mile recovery run with the pooch and my 7 year old on bike tonight. 8:20 pace, not bad when you include a potty break and a couple of delays for my son having an itch or a booger.

When I run from home, I have to climb one of the biggest peaks in Farragut on the way back. Hills are great for strength and stamina...make the flats and downhills feel like coasting!

Track meet yesterday.

I ran the 800meter in 2:29 and the 1600meter in 4:58. I got 7th but there was a ton of good runners.

Great time in the 1600. You should work on your speed, though. With a sub 5 16 you should be going a bit faster in the 8. Or not running the 8 at all and doing 16 and 32 doubles in your meets.

3 miles last night 6:47 pace. I am trying to get my three miles under 20 min total time. I don't know if I am gonna be able to though. Last night about killed my legs

exactly what I did in HS. Just wasn't fast enough in the 800.

Enter a 5k. When you get your adrenaline going in a race it is very easy to push yourself beyond your perceived limits. Also, like crazy said, add speed training. Try some 4X800 track workouts at a 3:12-3:15 pace with 200m jogs in between sets.

great advice on the 800's. I also used to run 400's at just under a minute. You need the get the feel of really stretching your legs out and moving.
