The Runner's thread

I've never had a good time, big body but haven't been out there in months and I can feel it.

You'll get better if you continue to run on a regular basis. Ask tips from some of the guys on here that have been running for years.

Gonna run a trail 10k Saturday. Good news - 1.3 mile downhill finish. Bad news - 1st mile is up the mountain. Think im gonna be stupid and ride my bike to the race if the weather is nice. Then if I'm feeling strong and really dumb, im gonna run the course twice.

Glutten for punishment??? :eek:lol: Good luck with that. Let us know how it goes.

Ran 4 at an average pace of 7:30 yesterday. Going to slow it down a bit to 8 min/mile today and run 5. Also, planning on getting 7 miles in on Saturday. Now that I've got a good base going, gotta start logging miles!

We ran a times mile to start crossfit today. I have a head cold and have been feeling bad because of all the sinus meds, but I still smoked my class with a 5:49. Felt pretty good for a sick guy. I then proceeded to hack up a lung.

That's a crazy fast pace sick or not!

Did 4 miles last night at 7:45 pace. I am getting more and more comfortable running. I do 6 miles for the first time on Sunday am. Looking forward to it.

On a side note, lbs are coming off like crazy since I've started running. I was at a standstill doing p90x, I think I needed to just switch it up.

Good to hear about the lbs coming off. Crossfit has worked well for me since stopping running. The distance running just wasn't giving me the intensity that I needed to drop pounds. I'm at the point now where I'm going to need to make some serious diet decisions if I'm going to move my fitness to the next level. It's just hard to commit to a serious eating plan when you aren't competing or involved in a real sport other than working out.

I've been signed up for the Carolina Tough Mudder for a few months now. And I'm doing the Carolina Spartan Beast 2 weeks before(Oct 14th)

Got my 7 in today in just under an 8 minute pace.

6.35 mile 10k this morning. Doing great till I slammed my pinky toe on a rock with a mile to go. The last mile was all downhill and I had to walk all of it. Sucked but its life. Riding the bike home was a little tough.
