What Buck Fitzgerald said

The team didn't quit, it was terrible playcalling offensively. I have never seen so many failed screens in my life. That is all UT tried that game. To make matter worse, I had to walk back to my hotel being hounded by UGA fans. It was emabarrassing.

People also forget that VaTech was much more talented that season. IIRC, the Hokies were ranked in the top 15 when we played them. Not a great matchup for a 7-5 team.

Making things up so you can white knight. You must live an exciting life.

I don't even know what that means. But yeah, you are obsessed. You made comments about momma Dooley all of last year as well, especially after she had some radio comments and you have brought her up at least twice in the past 2 weeks.
Do your own post search history if you can't recall your own bull****.

Yep, you a white knight.

I would say that kind of settles which coach is better

My opinion on Kiffin has settled on the fact that he would have won big here.

My opinion on Dooley hasn't been settled on anything, really. After this season, it will be. And my hope is that it will be a moot point one way or another.

Just like Kiffin.

I have to disagree, he beat a bad South Carolina and Georgia team, and lost 3 games where his team was more talented.

Kiffin still could recruit and had an allstar staff, but he has lost a lot of games he shouldn't have lost.

His recruiting would have gone through the roof here as it has at USC. I don't think he is a great X's and O's coach, but he is a ridiculous recruiter.

Ridiculous talent wins games. Sometimes in spite of coaching. *cough UK basketball cough*

I totally agree, he can get any player he pretty much wants and he had an all star staff. The only problem with him is that I don't think he has that good of an eye for talent.

There is no telling what would have happened if Kiffin would have stayed longer.
We could have gotten better. We could be on severe probation.
Facts are that he did some good coaching. He also did some terrible coaching and lost games due to horrid planning, preparation and playcalling.
He could recruit highly ranked players. He could also recruit highly ranked busts, which is what got UT in more trouble.

If I was a thin skinned player that needed to be pampered, I'd prefer Kiffin as well. He can lie with the best of them and sometimes lying to a player can get them to play better. At least in the short term.

I would have to disagree with that^. Kiffin's recruiting class was WAY overblown here. Sure, he brought in a lot of stars here, but none of them panned out. I realize that some players left because he left. But several had issues with either grades or living the thug life. I MUCH prefer the recruiting approach that Dooley has taken. Sure, he took Bonner this year, and there's been an issue or two, but NOTHING like Kiffin and Orgeron. He's proven he can recruit at USC, but who couldn't recruit there?

You can't be serious?

Having a veteran line can easily make up for the Sullins brothers. The Sullins weren't as bad as people thought, and they could work around the Sullins bros, plus they still were in an elite workout program for over 4 years.
A veteran line? Weren't there two returning starters? And regardless, it's the offensive line. You don't want any weak spots, let alone having multiple walk ons. It's not like you can just average out the talent of all the players and say it's a good line. Having glaring holes means that are going to be a weakness on every play. I would have hated to see Hiestand try to deal with that.

UGA had Matt Stafford and a much better team in 2008 than 2009. Those aren't comparable. UGA in 08 went 10-3 compared to the 8-5 UGA team that lost to UK.
True, but Auburn was a lot better in 2009, especially on offense.

Turnovers and special teams killed the defense in 08. They were a very good unit.
Sure, when they were dealing with the likes of Mississippi State and Vanderbilt.

UT was much better than the 7-5 record. You forget we lost to Auburn and UCLA. They weren't very good teams.
You forget we smashed Georgia and South Carolina teams, and I'm not at all sure we were better than either of them. Auburn was better than Tennessee, too.
