What Buck Fitzgerald said

Yes, that OL dominated opponents in 2008. Cutcliffe resorted to three step drops and 4 yard curls in 2007 to protect Ainge. Great OL I tell you.

Teams knew if they scored 10 points on Tennessee they could run it for 3 quarters and go home.

So Jacques Mcclendon and Chris Scott weren't good? I guess you know more than NFL scouts, considering they got drafted. Aaron Douglas was wanted by Saban too, so I guess he sucked also.

Not at all, the defense was much better. The defense in 2008 played much better than UT's defense in 2009.

It's kind of hard to have an effective line with multiple walk ons.

The defense played better against Georgia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and UCLA in 2009.

The 2008 team did fine shutting down the crap teams Tennessee played, but it didn't do much at all against the teams that actually mattered. The fact that the 2009 team could actually score had something to do with the fact that more points were scored against them. The 2009 team gave up 28 garbage points to Memphis after going up 56-0. The 2008 team probably would have beaten them 10-7. That doesn't mean the 2008 team had an elite defense. All the injuries and lack of depth had a big part in the increase in points in 2009, too.

They were poorly coached underachievers under Fulmer. I never said they were bad.

Most of the time, there is a slight drop off when a team learns a new defense or starts a walk on at MLB. The 2008 D also had the fortune teams not worrying about scoring more than 14 points.

To use nick stephens as an example of kiffin messing up is silly. Stephens wasn't going to do diddly here, and morley failed too many drug tests.

Let's whine a little more about the past.

Hey jg, I was on the sideline for your boy kiffins game at ole miss.
Now continue to bash the present coach about a team quitting when your boy had it happen midseason in one year.
Or throw another comment about momma Dooley. Taking aim at old women shows great character.

Weak is weak.

Having a veteran line can easily make up for the Sullins brothers. The Sullins weren't as bad as people thought, and they could work around the Sullins bros, plus they still were in an elite workout program for over 4 years.

UGA had Matt Stafford and a much better team in 2008 than 2009. Those aren't comparable. UGA in 08 went 10-3 compared to the 8-5 UGA team that lost to UK.

2009 played better against Bama than 08

Florida- UT in 08 allowed 100 less yards than UT in 09. UT had 3 turnovers and allowed a punt return which killed the game for them. Tebow didn't even pass for over 100 yards.

UCLA- UT got 4 picks against UCLA in 08 compared to one turnover in 09. UCLA had more yards against UT in 08 than 09.

South Carolina- The defense in 08 allowed 100 less yards, but the 09 team had 4 turnovers, including 3 fumbles.

Turnovers and special teams killed the defense in 08. They were a very good unit.

One game or 8 games? Which is worse?

When a loudmouthed Paula Deen impersonator puts herself in the public eye, people shouldn't get upset when they get made fun of.

I would be more than happy with 8 wins after all of the things that have happened over the last 4 or 5 years (of course I want more though)..

There aren't very many year 3s like the year 3 that CDD and crew are going into this year....

A year three with a lot of returning starters, many two year starters, with a first round QB throwing to two NFLers on the edges?

No one can argue that players would rather play for Kiffin than Dooley, right now especially. Kiffin is a player's coach and relates to the kids much better than Dooley. Kiffin knew how to get players pumped up.

You've been talking about her for over a year. It reeks of some odd obsession. Never heard anyone worry about her so much. Hell, I haven't heard her in months but you bring her up weekly.

Making things up so you can white knight. You must live an exciting life.

Who brought up Kiffin?

Just in case people forget:

No. But the sour attitude is a choice not a compulsion.

Kiffin who justin seemed to be OK with had alot to do with the roster problems that hurt the Vols last year. The class he finished from Fulmer's last season was a complete bust. They should have been JR's leading the team.

The team didn't quit, it was terrible playcalling offensively. I have never seen so many failed screens in my life. That is all UT tried that game. To make matter worse, I had to walk back to my hotel being hounded by UGA fans. It was emabarrassing.

I would say that kind of settles which coach is better
