Sometimes power corrupts.

I firmly believe that.

The point of this thread is disheartening to me.

The draw to a forum like this, for me, is the passion and the ability for the hyper or under intelligent to state their feelings about something we are all obviously so passionate about. Then, we discuss...passionately. It is very much like eating Thanksgiving dinner with my extended family, name calling and all.

I think "mods" should stick with making sure that truly offensive speech is regulated (racial, sexual, ethnic or threats of violence), the rest, as much as I sometimes dislike it, is just part of "it".

If calling someone a "negavol" (or whatever else) is somehow demeaning and unintelligent (or simply offensive?), are we next going to start criticizing sentence structure and grammar as those could also be indices of intelligence? Maybe we should take a math test as a precursor to being allowed to post?

As a General once said "you can't fix stupid" but I think we should still let them post without being ridiculed for their (our?) inability to make a coherent argument without "name" calling (doolander, negavol, sunshine pumper...all laughable and inoffensive, to me at least).

I wish the "mods" would go to the movie theater and police everyone who takes a phone call during the movie, or who chews with their mouth open at the restaurant...now those things really do cheapen the collective experience.

EDIT: I misquoted the General. It was Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, who said "...stuck on stupid". Apologies. I believe the point is virtually the same.

Uhhhh Ron White said that. Check your facts.

Funny you mentioned that, I actually edited my post before you corrected me. I was trying to remember the quote of Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, who said "...stuck on stupid". My apologies if my lack of culture offended you or Mr. White.

Yea who gives a ****

Well don't I feel silly for replying to someone who said "stand up and say you are an alum"?

For future reference...there is actually a "school" (the U in UT stands for University), and it is relatively close to Neyland Stadium. If you ever get a chance to make it up to Knoxville, you should check it out. It isn't a scary place at all despite those books, and computers and other things. You will probably find the students (besides the one on the field, of course) are actually pretty nice and enjoy a good conversation about football, or basketball, or physics, or literature or whatever else you might enjoy discussing.
