Me too Bear. I'm grateful, thankful, and so proud of my relatives and the life they chose. We celebrate their lives, even while we miss them.

My step-son leaves at the end of July, to begin the chapter of his life in the United States Army. The pride I feel is overwhelming. And I'm also scared as hell.

Thanks. He's going in as a combat medic. The other thing he talked about was mortuary affairs (he's a funeral director), but he decided that wasn't what he wanted. Keep him in your prayers if you don't mind. He's an amazing young man, and his wife is sweet as she can be.

The prayers should be leaning more towards his marriage. A couple of 1 year long deployments destroy's what was once a happy marriage.

Maybe he's coming in at the right time, though. Iraq's done and unless he gets attached to a SPEC OPS unit he may never see Afghanistan with the draw down. Only time will tell.
