$200 for an intake?

I would not pay that. An air intake should not cost that much and could be remedied with some duct tape.

I would follow up with a local mechanic. Or perhaps try to find the part used.

Same thing I was thinking. Being it's a dealer, they'll probably say you need to replace it with a brand new hose or your car will explode and you'll die in a fire.

This! It's a really easy job to do.

If heart didn't feel up to it I am sure she has a friend who could do it.

Gud job nerdy! Gotta take care of our cars.

Just found out there's a crack in the air intake hose. $200! Not bad!!

if its a rubber hose or an american part, the part should be less that $40-50 and take 30 minutes to replace. or use duct tape like nerd said. they are ripping you off.

now if you have a crack in you intake manifold, thats a different story.

Hard to kick ass with one hand tied behind my back, but we try. You're never on here early. Surprised me for a second when you posted.

Sorry to hear you don't have full permission to dominate, but I'm sure you are still doing work.

Yeah, Fridays are usually my only early days. Like I said, I'm prorcrastinating studying. I haven't been on much at all lately. Seems people I like to talk to aren't here as much anymore. And I'm staying too busy it seems.

I still think you should ask for a second opinion, ask for a description of the part or even better yet, ask for the part number of the new part. I know you can get it done for a lot better than $200.

Sorry to offer unsolicited advice but that price just seems a bit much for what sounds like very basic and simple part.
