'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

Nice. So on our roster and current commits would fill a role as a DT in a 3-4?

Couch, Hood, Carson, McCullers, and O'Brien????

Mac and Carson are the only ones that look ideal for it. I suppose O'Brien could grow into it. I'm sure they'll get Couch on the field in whatever role they can for as many snaps as possible.

I think Hood has a hard time keeping his weight up, and it might be easier for him to play DE.

Is there a possibility of mixing it up and using some 3-4 and some 4-3 in this first year of implementing the 3-4? Like volinexile said, it would be tough keeping Mo Couch off the field, and I think mixing it up could work well. And we might actually have enough solid depth, FINALLY, to be able to do something like this.

Based on everything I've read, they still want to be multiple, playing a lot of fronts and personnel. They will focus on 3-4 but will move to different formations for the situations they face.

Here's how I see it:

WE- Sentimore, Miller, Saulsberry
NT- McCullers, Couch, Carson, Clark
SE- Couch, Walls, Hood, O'Brien

I think our Dline depth is finally going to be excellent this season.

The best part for next year will be the opportunity to substitute and not have a drop off. Lack of depth kept our D line exhausted last year and our second half performances looked terrible b/c of it.

I think he'll compete with Saulsberry for the #3 at WDE. Doubt he passes Miller and Sentimore, though. I'd rather him stay off the field and RS.

I saw him listed at 245lb on ESPN I think, if that's correct, he will either need a RS year or be an OLB.

I have Walls listed behind Couch, like I said with Taylor if he is really 245 then he will need a redshirt year. As for Williams, he could end up at OLB.

Im pretty sure in taylor's thread they said he was around 270 and gonna be a dt in the 4-3. So probably a 3-4 de.

I'm curious. What are your expectations for Jordan Williams next year?

I'm thinking he's gonna be the best suited Jack linebacker on the team. Big enough to play end, but nimble enough to play in space.

Smith is fundamentally unsound most of the time. And not sure what they are doing with Miller. It's nice that guys like Taylor and Lewis and the rest are being grown in the system they're going to play in for the rest of their time in orange.

Honestly, I'm really excited. I wish he could have had the opportunity to RS and work on getting better. We needed him and the talent level couldn't keep him from getting a few snaps. Going forward, IMO he would be versatile for us in a 3-4. A lot of people forgot that he played LB and DE in HS. Hell, most of his highlights from his Senior year had him standing up. His film shows he has a high motor, not to mention his measurables were freakish. He was listed at 6'4", 250 and ran a reported 4.5 forty. I think he could be a terror in the pash rush this year.

I'm hoping for big things from him too, he should flourish in a 3-4 and a full off season in the S&C Program!

It's so funny: all the other threads are full of posts saying KK is a Vol, but this one is devoid of hope.

Devoid was too strong, just a lot more pessimistic.
