I'll just say it now (and I'll get flamed for this):

If Dooley does this move (and who knows about the validity of the rumor, those it seems to be picking up steam with ESPN reporting it now), he should be fired. The guy has an okay resume, but it's Navy. Seriously, 84th rank D? Over Lance Thompson? At the minimum? If he's coming here to be DC, it would be a joke.

You guys need to just get a grip and come to terms with the fact that no big name coach will ever come to UT because of the fan base. People in the UT fan base are too impatient to wait for a program to be rebuilt. Instead, we just call for every coach's name and demand instant gratification. Why would a recruit want to come here too? I always read how people get on here and say how a player is a bust because they did not perform to SEC standards as a true freshman. The Vols have talent, but they are too young to perform to those standards right now. Really, the disparity in maturity and experience between UT playing Bama, LSU, UGA etc. is the equivalent to Bama going and playing Green bay or New Orleans. Yet, all the arm chair coaches on here think its crazy that the Vols didn't win any big games? Patience is a virtue guys. Just my 2 cents. Go ahead and flame me now.

I'm with you. This would be ridiculous and I'm a Navy vet.

Oh just stop it.

It's been 13 years since UT won a national title and more importantly a SEC title. It's time to demand results. I'm tired of the whole "instant gratification is our doom to the program" is a joke. You know what Dooley? You want to keep the program together? Don't lose to Kentucky with a WR playing QB and losing to Arkansas by 40. It's that simple.

The reason Tennessee is in this place? Because they didn't demand results from Fulmer.

Right. It's just us. Fans in Auburn, Bama, UGA, etc., totally reasonable people.

This is way beyond instant gratification. I think that the fans are just about fed up with this. Most have been patient enough. Myself included. He does this hire and I'm going to hit the roof.

I'm pro DD but come on now, we can do better than this. If the rumors are true that Hart was willing to open the check book up for RS but DD went for him?????? Next year just might be his last!

Yeah, this would be a first for us. I mean it's not like we've ever hired a head coach with a losing record from the WAC.

Ah yes, the ole "It's the fans' fault" argument. Yes, indeed, it's our fault for expecting success. Sorry, I admit it, I'm responsible.
I hear there's a pill for that now.
