There are two other openings on staff and I believe(I don't have proof) that UT requires 3 interviews before an opening is filled. That could explain the interviews even if RS has accepted.

Agree. I work for a state unversity, and this is always the case even If the decision is already made.

Being logical:

Name someone interviewed in SA? Name the benefits of throwing the press and public off of RS hire.

I'm saying there are no names being given for the hypothetical interviews. RS hasn't commented on backing out, UT hasn't. Makes a heck of a lot more sense they'd be red herrings than something else.

There are no benefits to announcing Shannon by Wednesday. If Shannon was the guy, he would have been announced last week. All this Shannon talk been going on too long with no results, not very solid right now to me.

The state requires it and also a hire cannot be released until all three interviews are completed.....

His list of demands is long and I'm pretty certain the desire to sort out his assistants is too. If it wasn't Shannon he'd have already said so and moved on to new talks.

When has Shannon himself said anything or interviewed for our job?? Kinda hard to move on, when you've never been involved.

Have the Miami sources who presumably were leaking from his end said different?

Why would UT say late Friday they were working with him if they weren't. Why wouldn't he deny at this point? Why wouldn't his agent release that he is not working with them since the UT AD said they were.

Why wouldn't Larry say: IT WILL NOT BE SHANNON?

Why wouldn't Rucker, or Hubbs, or any other of the local monkeys.

It's pretty simple everyone has only said they seem to be trying but gosh it sure seems like a long time to negotiate. Why?

Because either Monday or Wednesday they want the splash, along with his assistants. I could be dead wrong but Doc and SPV are not waivering and nothing points to then having cut talks.

Nothing points to them having spoken either. Most of this Shannon talk is fan and internet driven. Right now, I don't think Shannon wants to come to a school like UT. You have to work twice as hard here to win, as you did at a school like Miami. Dooley has to hire tireless recruiters to win here, and I've read and been told that Shannon isn't one of those guys.

eric just where are you getting your information? It doesnt matter what you think or perceive. All that matters is what our prospective coach thinks......and I dont think you can speak for him. Nor can I.
Do you really think all the media reports, from numerous independent outlets could all be making this stuff up? There have been talks between UT and RS now whether they are/have led to an understanding, well we dont know that yet; but we will in a day or two. So chill a little man. Enjoy the process; at least there is some anticipation surrounding the program.

Bennett is like dooms day. I suggest all of you call and let UT know you are not renewing tickets if a Bennett hire is announced. Firing Dooley will be our only hope if this is the best he could get. Bennett was a good hire ten years ago..might as well hire Majors if this is what we are doing.
