Geez, a lot of gun slinging going on.....I don't care what you think...Go back and read my comments....Where does it state as "fact".

Right now it makes no difference...Next year's record is not in the books is it???? Speculation....The whole team could be abducted by Aliens next year for all we know....That is neither opinion or fact...

Stating what you have stated above is your opinion....Will not know until it happens....It is what it is....when it happens...not when you think it will....

Hart is not a band-aide type guy and does not react to your statements or other rants about the state of UT Athletics ....the reason is because he does not answer to you or anybody else on msg boards...Right now it is a methodical approach to fixing the problem...

Making a donation does not give you the power to decide either...Most of the time it doesn't give you a place at the table either, but like you we are all entitle to our opinions....Your opinion is not good....I disagree with you because it is not your job or mine to evaluate the talent that will be wearing orange and on the field next year.....It is the coaches and the decision makers that put them into that decision making process.

Quit putting this situation into a Catch 22....It will be a moot point....anyway....The right hire at DC and they will win the minimum to keep Dooley at UT....No need to speculate at this time....We can all agree he will be here next year....My opinion is that he will be here at least until his contract expires.....

The DC hire may have extended it to His full contract....What happens if he tries to recruit without a full term as HC....Expect an extension as a possibility...but I will not speculate....You have stated clearly what you feel you know and I disagree with you....Sorry you feel that way...

Go Cheer for another team because it is obvious you are not supporting this one...

So, what I am taking for all the insiders is that we are going to hire Shannon on Friday and Steele on Thursday. Two people for the same position.Also, just to make sure people dont fear Dooley being fired, we are going to hire a second head coach and possibly two of every other coach.

I don't think this will happen.....Kind of like Cheers....Everybody is an insider and they know your name....I am not....Either coach is a good one....Happy to have them both....LOL

I like this! It would be dumb not to keep him here until his contract expires. Then, if he hasn't done his job, but has refilled the roster with quality players, it's a win-win for UT. Hart would then have the money (cause Fulmer's contract would be done) to bring in whoever he wants to at top dollar. If Dooley is successful, Hart looks like a genius! It's a win-win either way!

I came into some information from a good friend of mine who is one of the bigger UT boosters. This is what he told me earlier this evening at dinner regarding the DC situation:

-Dooley has known for a better part of a year that JW would leave for the first PAC-12 job that came available. It was always expected that Simon would follow. However, this all started to become reality two days after Christmas when Washington started showing interested and contacted the UT AD about JW.

-Since then, Dooley (and Hart) have worked to compile a list of replacement DC candidates. Sirmon's spot will be left vacant for the time being to accommodate additional staff the new DC may want to bring in, with Dooley's approval.

-Steele was definitely Dooley's first choice, but Hart didn't feel it was a good fit nor the big time hire that was needed. As he explained it to me, Hart did not want a band-aid just to get through next season, which is how it was described that Steele would be.

-Shannon was a close second and Hart's number 1 choice. Hart made it clear to Dooley that funds would be available to secure him, as it would take "a considerable salary," for the Shannon hire.

-JW informed Dooley on New Years Eve that he would be taking the UW job. Sirmon followed suit the next day. Both were accommodating and offered any assistance to help with the search/transition for the next few days. He's not sure if they were utilized or what they provided but said they were very gracious and accommodating.

-Baring any unforeseen event, Randy Shannon will be the new DC. He and the university have agreed (in principal--not official) through their lawyers to a multi year deal worth over $1million/year plus incentives. Despite Hart's comments on multi year deals, he is treating each coach on a coach by coach basis. Since Shannon is "his guy," it is assumed that there is some leeway on his original comments about multi year contracts for NEW hires.

-Expect an announcement by "late Friday or early Monday," depending on contract finalization.

-He was not sure if Shannon was on campus today, as was rumored.

-There was no team meeting as far as he could tell and so the Palardy tweet, he assumes, comes from Palardy's family being connected to a few high ranking names at the university. There was never an announcement made to the team that caused Palardy tweet what he did. He obtained the information from other means, but still accurate.

That's the latest and greatest. Should be all but a done deal.

I'm just not buying it. If it were Shannon, why not announce now? Start saving the recruiting class.

All logic points to Steele - they're waiting for Clemson's BCS game to be over , then they'll make a move.

Book it.

as much as i hate it! i think your right...we need Shannon! Steele is not the answer! ranked 60th and gives up tons of points with a hell of a lot better talent than us:banghead2:

If Shannon was first choice, I think we would have heard something by now. I think we are waiting on Steele to finish his game tonight.

I am Southern. I live less than a mile away. I dont have any friends getting married soon that I know of.

I love Owen. I have his complete works.
