Arnett to transfer?

If i recall correctly he and his father didn't reconcile until he was already at UT.

aw, shucks.... well I guess those that have decided he should be forced to pay for a year win by a stunner....

He walked on and payed his way this year. He will have a scholarship in 2012. Notre Dame has their policy and Tennessee has theirs. The decision is not made only by Dooley. This is the way things have been before he ever got here. As much as I hate to say it again , it's not like Bullard's father was a stranger to his family. I believe that if Arnett had the same relationship as Alex had with his father , things would be different. Remember , Arnett said Tennessee recruited his family. During this process , his father wasn't around and hadn't been for a long time. This is the problem with Arnett. This staff knows how close he actually was to his father and that it means very little compared to football. It just so happens he would like to use this excuse so he won't have to sit out a year or pay for anything. If Arnett left for the real reasons , he would sit for a year. 2 if he doesn't finish his year at Tennessee. This is what the staff knows. They gave him what he asked for and it's not good enough because football is much more important than someone (admitted by his family in many articles) that never knew how to be a father and was never around. Now I wish his father the best , but the sympathy he is seeking is more important to his football career than being close to his dad. I'd also like to add , since people keep bringing up Bullard , if depth wasn't such an issue here , I doubt we even care what Arnett does. Personally , I don't care anymore because he won't be playing here after running his mouth and burning his bridges so he can have it like burger king. It's not really about him leaving at this point. It's more of a message to the other players. It's not easy to leave and it shouldn't be. We can't afford to lose players. With all the drop off , this place needs to be named the fountain of youth because we keep getting younger and younger.

You think Dooley is going to win the PR battle against a kid and a sick old man?

I think he will treat this like the others. He won't give a damn. It's a lose/lose for him no matter what he does. Let me ask you this , should we just let everyone who wants to leave... leave without any consequences? That kid and a sick old man thing sounds like a winner. I'm sure the media will spin the hell out of that , but at the end of the day , I doubt the staff gives a ****. "Other reasons" just aren't good enough for Arnett. It's his way or piss poor emails to ESPN. I bet Ralph Arnett has an opinion of this sick old man. Yeah , it's sad , but it's not the reason he wanted out of Tennessee. Things didn't go the way he planned and so DeAnthony is running from a bad situation. Sounds alot like his father if you ask me.

OUCH, this is basically Deanthony's sum up of his life.

Follow the policy. Lots of BCS schools there to pick from besides MeatChicken and MeatChicken State. We got Central MeatChicken. And there is Eastern MeatChicken. And I watched Western MeatCHicken play Purdue on Tuesday in the MeatChicken Bowl. They are very good. He should go to Western MeatChicken in my humble opinion. I also saw Toledo beat Air Force yesterday. Both are better than the Vols.

The letter hurt him a lot more than it helped him. How do kids with that bad of grammer & spelling ever qualify for a major college? Gee, that was embarrassing.

Almost as embarrassing as misspelling the word "grammar" when you call out someone's ability to write? Lol

Im sure the media will spin the heck out it. Thats why Brian Kelly gave Bullard his transfer. These are not battles your going to win in the press. A smart coach is not going to even fight the battle. What if Tyler Smith had not got his transfer back to TN from Iowa when his father was sick? Although Smith was released from Iowa his father died before he ever got to play at TN. Talk about a JoPa nightmare if Iowa had of played the Dooley card.

After having a little more time to think about this and process what we know I think that...

1. MSU's fingerprints are all over this.

From an earlier KNS article:

Arnett has pondered the decision for months. In an interview with a Michigan State website from the 247sports.com family earlier this month — one that was not released until late Wednesday — he appeared to have his mind already made up.

Waaah? He gave an interview on this to a Michigan State site earlier this month but it was only released late Wednesday?! Why was he talking to them about it in the first place let alone a MONTH ago?

"Due to personal family reasons, I've decided to leave Tennessee," Arnett told SpartanTailgate. "I appreciate everything the Vols coaches have done for me but in the long run the Tennessee program isn't the right fit for me or my family."

Well that's nice of him - wish he were still saying that.

However, given his recent antics, it sounds like Arnett either thought or was told that the dad-excuse-plan would go off without a hitch. And it might have if AD Hart and Dooley were dumber than a box of rocks. How much you wanna bet Hart or Dooley found out something about Arnett being recruited away or some other nefarious b.s.?

Quite frankly, it sounds like he thought he could snow Dooley et al with his sob story and get a full unconditional release with it. Obviously, it hasn't gone that way.

2. DeAnthony's brother, RALPH Arnett, has his hands all over this. Yeah it's speculation but given the fact that the family acknowledges RALPH acts as DeAnthony's dad/agent, circumstantial evidence along with strong intuition says that's the case. Who wants to bet on whether or not Ralphie was offered a suitcase of cash, given an exit plan by MSU or UM, and told to bring little brother home? Personally, I wouldn't bet against it.

3. I was firmly in this kid's corner when this topic first came up (my earliest post proves it) but there's too much going on now for his story to be trusted. On the surface, it looks like he had a very legit reason for transfer and a hardship excuse that the NCAA would approve so why is acting so aggressively?

If his case is legit then he can apply for and get a hardship from the NCAA and play anywhere without having to sit out a year (his release by UT is about where he can immediately play without a waiver) so why is he pitching a fit when he can apply for a waiver? What is he so worried about? Why can't he take out a student loan that would even give him a little extra cash and let him play wherever he pleased?

As Shakespeare once wrote, "The Lady doth protest too much."

4. Why is every MSU and UM fan suddenly claiming Bagggett was fired? Especially, when not even a peep about such a thing has been printed in the press and you know our very own UT hating local press would've been all over that.
