'12 VA DT Korren Kirven (Bama signee)

Kirven has recently trimmed his list down to 5 schools and has 3 official visits lined up. He doesn't know an exact date of when he will pick a school, but he is thinking it won't be until NSD.

Kirven is set for officials to Tennessee, Alabama and Virginia Tech.
"I set up an official to Tennessee on January 13th, Alabama the weekend of the 20th and Virginia Tech on the 27th," he said. "I have two more left and I'll probably do them before, they will probably be to Virginia and Maryland."
Tennessee: "I just felt with Tennessee it's a great school. I've been up there a couple times and I like what I saw. The coaches are great and they are always sending me love through the mail. They send mail every day. It's a great place to be and a great atmosphere."
"I just want to explore the campuses more, check out more of the academics and sit down with the coaches. I want to get a feel of the football program." "I don't really have a timeline, but Signing Day is probably going to be the date."

"....check out more of the academics..."

Wow. How often do you hear a DL say that??? Good for him.

You think so just b/c of the home state aspect? You don't think Bama will be a major pull?

Just askin'.

Not JMo, but I used to live in Lynchburg. The state, as a whole, doesn't have a major Tech pull, but the Lynchburg area certainly does. It's only 1:15 and an easy drive from Blacksburg. And his HS is where Tech QB Logan Thomas played. The coach at Brookville will strongly encourage, not force, him to go to VT. I don't think it's impossible for him to end up at UT, but I would be very surprised.

He was impressed and enjoyed his visit to Bama, but I don't see him ending up there. Depth chart issues IMO.

BTW his official visit is scheduled for next month at Bama. It will be one of our biggest recruiting weekends this year.

Let's just hope he wants to get away from home for college to experience something new. Doesn't need to go to far for that. I'm thinking 4hrs is about the right amount of distance. Just sayin...

He needs to cancel that. No way Bama wants him, right?

I will say that if A Taylor commits to UA today and Goldman:crossfingers: at the Under Armor, I think the staff will cancel his visit and tell him we are full. They just did that with Q Lambert(LB) out of NJ when Devall commited.

OK. Thanks TW.

Not jmoore...but Kirven's HS is pretty much a pipeline to VT...and Kirven has been there multiple times...

And as TW has said there is a good chance Bama won't have a spot for Kirven

I still think we could have a punchers chance in this one

Maybe he will be turned off by the fact that Blacksburg is in the middle of nowhere? I know that was a bit of a detraction when I visited there years ago.

Perhaps, but I doubt it. I don't think that comes into play when you grow up a VT fan and everyone around you is pushing you there and your home is only a little over an hour away.

We have a good chance here with Kirven. We will get an official, but he hasn't set the date yet. Bama wants him, but like the rest, they build up the suspense with each recruit then say we don't have room because who they really wanted finally committed. They keep others on the hook (McCullers, Kirven, Tomlinson) just in case Goldman goes elsewhere. I would say look out for Miami for Goldman. They have made up some good ground, and he really liked his visit there too. Not saying he's going to the U, but he has more to think about now.

weren't we saying the same thing about pig howard. how he was more than likely headed to UCF, Jay was confident it was Vol, but many were skeptical of the distance. Same case here. watch out for UT.
