Dane Bradshaw, liability or asset?

The comment was directed to those who feel they could actually step on the court for Dane and do better. I dare say there is not a single person here that could step on the court vs. a top-25 team and make a meaningful contribution.

A layup is not a meaningful contribution. 2 points from a starter is nothing.

Leadership and hustle are always meaningful contributions. Granted shooting the ball, he could'nt hit water if he fell out of a boat, but some contribution's don't show up in the stat sheets.

This debate happens around here a lot. Leadership and hustle are absolutely worthless where there is a void of talent. Otherwise, teams would be loaded with Rudy types and men's basketball would turn to women's ball, but teams would play hard. I sort of hope the remainder of the SEC will start recruiting heart types with limited ability, 'cause I like our chances then.

I saw that yesterday.

Where is your D-1 scholarship then?

You shouldn't get a D-1 scholarship for that.

Granted, although our point totals over the last few games would be similar, I wouldn't be as hard a worker, as good a passer, and I would be worse in general, but if we want to make a run at anything next year, which some people think we can make a tourney run, we better hope Tabb steps up and can ply better than Dane is right now.

Leadership and hustle are NEVER worthless. I,m not saying I'd want a team full of people that hustled and showed leadership but couldn't play a lick, but every team can benefit from a person with Danes work ethic, every team needs someone to look to for good work ethic and Dane fits that bill for TN. I would'nt want to put a whole team full of em on the floor, but give me 1 of em and I'll take him everytime. In the end it doesn't matter what any of us VN posters think about Danes worth to the team, only what coach Pearl and Danes teammates think of him and they love him and I think they know a little more about what makes the team go than a bunch of Monday morning QBs.

Not too much of a stretch there...

OK, leadership and hustle have tremendous value, they just don't contribure to winning without some considerable talent mixed in. The trick is to find the guys that have the talent to mix in with hustle.
