Dane Bradshaw, liability or asset?

This thread got pretty good there at the end :lolabove:. I'm glad I kept reading.

I have a soft spot for Bradshaw, as it seems even his harshest critics do. That's no reason to give him time over someone else we have that can produce right now when he can't. I think the only logical thing to do at this point is let him play from the bench and see what the results are.

Another point I wanted to make:
StunnA N' Orange (looks like he may need an abbreviation if he keeps posting at this rate. I'm gonna throw out Sn'O)

Uh, anyway Sn'O:
I just wanted to say that after having wrote you off as a complete idiot when you joined here with your incessant smileys littering every post, you proved me wrong by showing a comprehensive knowledge of the game and the vols. At any rate, keep up with the good post with few smileys.

Dane, Dane, Dane. Can't live with him, can't live without him.

First of all: it's not as if Tabb's going to suddenly start averaging double digit points per game if he took over Dane's starting role.

Furthermore, if Tabb's starting, then we've got 3 freshmen in the starting 5. I'm pretty confident that Pearl's NOT comfortable with that concept. If I were coaching them, I wouldn't be, either. There is definitely something to be said for experience.

That being said, it's pretty obvious to me that Dane's shoulders are fubared, and it's clearly affecting his ability to score, which was extremely limited to begin with. The tipping point at which his lack of offense outweighs his assists, rebounds, passing ability, and general hustle is difficult to measure, and I, for one, am going to trust that CBP has a better grip on that than myself or anyone else here.

Dane is 4th in the SEC in both steals AND assists. He averages almost 2 steals, 4 assists and 4 rebounds per game.

You idiots who think you could be put in the game and "at least score a layup" need a reality check. While you are eating your cheetos watching your stomach grow and bitching at the TV, understand you don't know how to run a play in basketball, you couldn't guard Kevin Durant with ANY success and you don't have to fight off another 6'7" player to get to your second bag.

So shut the #$%^ up.

I kinda worry about starting 3 Freshmen also. Even though I really like Tabb. Childress has stepped it up as of late, but really don't know if he is good enough to start either. He played his heart out Wed though. Pearl commented on his play in the post game show. I heard Dane in an interview say that his shoulder is not bothering him now like it was 2 months ago, even with a bad shoulder he should be able to make a lay up. I've seen him miss about 10 now since the LSU game. If you want to trust CBP, then I think he sees the same thing that we all do. We can't continuously be playing 4 on 5 when Dane's in the game. We seen about a third of his minutes cut this last game and given to Childress and Chill responded - lets see if we see the same thing this Sat.

Was going to post something similar but I like the way you put it. :good!:

Hey I have guarded Shaq and held him to 4 points in the paint, so there:thumbsup:

A healthy Dane Bradshaw is an asset.
An injured Dane Bradshaw with tendinitis in his shoulders is a liability.

Also, those of you who have never held elected office need to quit discussing politics. Those who have never loaded luggage or worked a ticket counter have no right to complain about airport delays. Finally, those who have never been a professional cook need to keep your filthy mouths closed about restaurants.

The comment was directed to those who feel they could actually step on the court for Dane and do better. I dare say there is not a single person here that could step on the court vs. a top-25 team and make a meaningful contribution.

That is because I could play and at least put in a layup.

I could at least hit the rim once. Do you think that would get me a start?

You're right. Upon further review, the post I initially responded to was an appropriate response to some ridiculous assertions.

Bruce Pearl couldn't step on the court and contribute against a top 25 team either. Does that mean he shouldn't comment or evaluate the team's play?

It doesn't take a Div 1 basketball player to go to UT's stats page and see Bradshaw's shooting % is an liability. :yu:

See my above post. This was in response to the people who said they could at least hit a layup or draw iron.

Saying Josh Tabb should get Bradshaw's minutes is one thing. Saying you could do better is an entirely different matter.

I didn't say I was better. I just think I could hit the rim if I had 31 minutes on the court. Especially, if the defense doesn't even guard me.

Yeah Dan Federman and Doug Roth need to stay the hell off this board!

I think a liability would be to not start the only senior on the team.

havol's response to my post was appropriate to hatvol, I expect nothing less.

Where is your D-1 scholarship then?

I'm working on that right now. I'm currently being recruited by a coach named Buzz Peterson. He says that I'm an awesome player. He says that he has an eye for good tallent. He told me that I was even good enough to play in the SEC.

OK, I love the grit and heart Dane exhibits and I will be the first to admit this. Too bad he can't teach some of the football team a thing or two about toughness. Dane gives 100% with the talent and abilities that he has.

That being said, we can't keep trotting a player onto the court that scores 0 points game after game after game. He may make a nice pass here or there, grab a few rebounds, etc... but he is a liability on the court, IMO. Defenses don't respect him, and sag off when he has the ball. He is as much of a threat to score as Richard Simmons is at the Playboy mansion. This will cost us if we get to the NCAA and win a game or two. Dane is a true Vol at heart, but I think we need to strongly consider making a move. Am I in the minority? Please don't take this as a bash to Dane either, as it isn't intended to be.

Asset as far as ball handling, passing, rebounding, and heart.

Liability if he aims for the cylinder.
