Does the term "Iowa State" of the Big Whatever not mean anything to you? Dooley was in the WAC for 3 years and with UT for two years and still got the same result. You just proved Johnny Majors was a better coach at that point. Iowa State is the Vandy/kentucky equivalent.

So LaTech is a powerhouse I guess right?

I don't think he "likes" franklin all that much, I just think he's pointing out that right now that vandy has a better coach. You do have to admit what franklin has done at vandy is pretty impresive

Yeah...matching Bobby Johnson with a 6-6 record and a likley in-state bowl game, and doing so with players Johnson recruited.

It's obvious this guy is tearing up the SEC. Look out!

No, unfortunately he's on air on my drive home now. It's a broken record. Same **** everyday.

There is always Willy talking about baseball if you can get the ridiculously weak signal to tune into your radio.

It was the Big 8 back then and I bet he lost to Nebraska and Oklahoma every year (the only 2 teams of note in that conference)

No, but LT isn't in a BCS conference either. They should be able to compete in the WAC, and have a much, much better chance of doing so than ISU in the Big 12 or VU/UK in the SEC.

CJM 29-27-1 in his first five years at UT not that great I would say. 51%

I live in middle Tennessee, Brentwood. I had to stop listening to Clay Travis he makes Tennessee fans sick! He needs to understand Vanderbilt will never over take the Vols. Not on the field and definately not their fan base. When they stop giving away their tickets on Saturday at kroger maybe they will grow up.

Please look at my post again. It was CJM first 5 years as a coach not at UT. But here is his first five years at UT.

1977 Tennessee 4–7 1–5 8th
1978 Tennessee 5–5–1 3–3 T–4th
1979 Tennessee 7–5 3–3 T–5th
1980 Tennessee 5–6 3–3 6th
1981 Tennessee 8–4 3–3 T–4th

My apologies. Thought you meant Tennessee. Didn't think about Pitt. Credibility is in tact!

In his 28 seasons as head coach he only had 7 season where he had 9 wins or more. 11 of his 28 seasons he was at .500 or worse. I'm too young to remember Majors as a coach, but from looking at his wiki page he only had two impressive seasons his 12-0 national championship at Pitt and his 11-1 season at UT.

Spent majority of his career in rebuild mode. Had us rolling by the mid 80's outside of 88.

Any idea of when this press conference was? I'd like to find a link to watch this part.

couldn't find it online. they play it every now and then on 104.5 the Zone in Nashville. it took place at the SEC media days. CDD called on Travis for his question and in typical CT fashion, he got all caught up in his smart, know it all mouth. Dooley said something to the effect that . . . here you are waiting all this time to ask me a question and you got "marbles in your mouth" when you got your moment. Very funny.

I think Clay Travis still resents him - you can tell he almost makes it personal in his rants against CDD.

It's interesting to see your viewpoint being a younger Vol fan. Most of us who remember the Majors days would point you to the '85 team and the '90-'91 teams as well as the '89 team that you mentioned. The '91 team lost to UF and Bama both on the road but had that great comeback win at ND. They got drilled by Penn St. in the Fiesta Bowl, but it was a very talented team.

The '90 team will be remembered for losing to a bad Bama team by a score of 9-6 with a team LOADED with offensive talent.

You forgot to place the over/under on how many times he says we should apologize to Fulmer. The other day he said they were going to start having a daily Fulmer apology on the show...what a turd.

Lulz...

I am getting tired of the schtick he has been using. Even Jerry Lawlor knew to balance out the "heel" play after Andy Kaufman.

Liked him better when he was C'lay, and not Paul Finebaum, Jr.

Clay Travis' latest tweet

This Tweet = better move than anything in Dooley UT tenure. “@Lane_Kiffin: Happy 30th Birthday Britney! @britneyspears”

I'm surprised he didn't mention his sweedish penis pump more. I'm thankful he didn't, but everytime I hear one of his interviews it's "penis pump this" or "penis pump that". Enough already.
