Toughest games

Nothing. But a guy with a "Gator Hater" avatar is pretty much signaling that he always sees UT winning that game. I know guys like that. I used to be a guy like that. Any glimmer of hope, any argument, no matter how slight, in favor of the Gators pretty much had me convinced that we were maybe a field goal kicker away from the Super Bowl.[/quote]

Except for Collins Cooper, right?:eek:k:

How we got through last year without that part of our game causing us to lose, I have no idea.

It's all a shot in the dark right now without seeing anybody play a down yet, but right now I would see it like this.

1 - Cal - Not because Cal is that good, but because it's an opener on the road and we are completely unproven at OL,WR, and DB. Also because this is a must win in order to have a good start on a successful season.

2 - UF - It's the 2nd game on the road and it's Florida.

3 - Bama - Because it's Bama.

4 - Georgia - They have owned Neyland Stadium in recent years.

5 - SC or KY - Take your pick, they are both getting better.

Taking into consideration where the games will be played:

1. Florida
2. Georgia
3. Alabama
4. Kentucky
5. Cal

1. Arkansas. I really dont see any reason why this year's game will be much different in terms of us stopping their running game and Monk. We should be able to score, but otherwise our d-line (for lack of a better term) will get pounded again.

2. Georgia. Ended the year strong, loaded at a lot of positions. Did lose their d-line, though.

3. Florida. Loaded everywhere, in the Swamp, they have a better coach. Its early in the season, though, and theyre replacing a lot on both sides of the ball

4. South Carolina. Not so much because of the talent they have coming in, but if you look at the schedule, this game will be our NINTH in a row without a bye week.

5. Bama. Good coach, in Tuscaloosa, close game every year, 2nd straight road game...could be tough.

I'm afraid that we may be overconfident against Cal, but they are in no way our toughest game.

And I in no way think they are our toughest opponent, but when you are an unproven team like ours will be, your toughest game is apt to be a road opener.

What does beekeeping have to do with any of this?

Well, South Carolina fans AND the players are much like bees. They don't cause a lot of problems when they're around, but they annoy the heck out of you. When they actually do something right, it stings.

Ok, maybe not exactly 4X but you have to agree we are much more talented.

You're marginally more talented than 2006. Obviously, we need to wait until spring, summer, and fall practice/workouts are over and we see some field action. However, your team will be drastically improved on defense, and the same on offense.

We have a lot of starters returning (10 on defense, 7 on offense). Hopefully we can use that to our advantage in some games.

i hope you are right in that Bama will be tougher than uga this year because that will mean uga is not as good as i think they are. i just think they finished the season last year on a positive note and while i hate to say it, Stafford grew up a lot last year. the biggest mistake richt made was not starting him from day 1 IMO. I just think Bama is still in too much dissarray(sp?) to be extremely competitive next year. Of course, they could have a lot of their issues worked out by the time the 3rd Sat. in Oct. comes around

If Richt didn't start Tereshinski, UGA could quite likely have not finished the season bowl eligible. They needed him in there to assure they got their easy preseason schedule taken care of. When they played the new QBs against Colorado (one of the NCAA's worst teams) they very nearly lost.

1. Alabama
2. South Carolina
3. Georgia
4. Florida
5. Arkansas

I think all 5 are top 20 teams next year. The only reason I don't say Florida is that they are currently overrated at #1, not nationally, but conferencely (?), if that's possible. LSU was probably better, and a couple others were at least as good. They squeeked through to win the SEC, any of 5 teams that did that could have whipped Ohio St. I think we're their first test next year, and I think they'll go into half time down by 2 scores blindsided by the recollection of how tough SEC football is ... we need to welcome urban back to reality this reality.

The problem with bringing Urban back to reality is that (a) he's still fooling almost everyone (us included) with that spread option, and (b) you can expect him to have that system tweaked to take advantage of Tebow's strength's by game day. Sorry, but Florida has the crystal football, and they're still #1.

I think #2 through #5 depend on how well we do against Florida.
- We get UGA in Knoxville, so maybe some crowd help and home field advantage against Stafford & Co.
- Personally, I think LSU was more luck than skill for Saban, and I think his stint with the Dolphins proved it. We'll see how he does in Bama.
- Will '07 be Arkansas, or "Arkanseeyalater" for Nutt & Co. So much upheaval in both the coaching staff, and the locker room, that it will be tough for Houston to get his team focused. Then again, we play them later on, so.....
- UK has momentum, which has been rarer than an Amish strip club for the past...oh...say twenty or so years. We'll see what they do with it.
- Do not, I repeat DO NOT overlook Cal. They're pride is still smoldering after that beating we gave them last year (fun to watch, wasn't it?). If we go out there thinking all we have to do is "control the line of scrimmage" to win, we might get surprised.

Bottom line? Beat Cal and UF, and the other "3 toughest" will depend on us, not them. Lose both games, and Vandy might be #4.

Go Vols.

Sorry, I forgot about South Carolina....

On second thought, no I didn't.

Enjoy your revenge, Phil.

i know this may sound a little stupid to some people, but if we beat florida and Cal at the beginning of the season (which is not an easy task by any means), tenn has a really good shot at the sec and perhaps national title.

The vice versa is even more true.

Our toughest Games in order in my opinion.

- Georgia // It seems we can't beat them in Neyland.

- Florida // They lose alot, but we are on the road.

- South Carolina // Spurrier + Talent = Trouble.

- Alabama // Bama, good or not, plays us close.

- Arkansas // McFadden.

i'll give you that but it's hard to know for sure. stafford seemed to improve with the more time PT he got throughout the year. he finished on a good note last year and it'll probably carry over to next year. but i hope he is at his best when he plays UT cause i would love to beat uga at their absolute best (of course that goes for every team on the schedule but especially uga)
