agree but was the difference in quality worth losing a season with him?
by the way, hundreds of great qb's have sat their freshman year and still went on to greatness.
If Bray stays healthy, Worley will never get the type of snaps in the next two years that he's gotten in the past 3 weeks.
No . . . we would have lost to MTSU and there would have been player defections.
See how this works? I can make stuff up to argue about too.
You would be incorrect about my position. All the guys on the team know who the better QB is. Dooley owes it to them to give them the best possible chance to win when they walk out on the field.I believe you are on the fence and just throwing out a scenerio ... I think you personally can see this decision going either way.
Did you see some of the sideline reactions during the Alabama game? Did you see Simms over there beating himself up and wringing his hands? Maybe Dooley made that move to keep from losing his team.
There's a game Saturday against a team we detest with a shot at a bowl berth on the line. Bray isn't guaranteed to start; he isn't guaranteed to play well once he gets out there. We're a lot more prepared for that now than we would be if all we had to go to was Matt Simms.
You play to win games now. It would be stupid to not put your best players on the field because of some hypothetical situation in freaking 2015.
But what if he doesn't turn out to be any good? Lamenting a lost season of Worley's "greatness" is at least as hypothetical as guessing that Dooley was worried about his team quitting on the season and decided he had to try something different.
What's the chance that the difference between one more year of Worley and whoever his backup is costs us a shot at an SEC championship in 2015? Two percent, maybe? I'll take that all day for a better chance to win games now.
This mess? Do you mean the current overall state of our football program, or are you actually referring to Worley's red-shirt ordeal as "this mess"?
I don't fault the decision to burn his redshirt.
If Dooley had kept Simms in he would be hearing a lot about that. (as for Volnation people would be calling for his head more than they already are IMO)
Hopefully Bray stays healthy next season and there is no need to worry about playing the backup QB, but if that situation arises I say put Worley in and not Peterman.
Worley is good but he is didn't show as a freshman the same promise that Bray did as a freshman.
After seeing both Simms and Worley, it was pretty clear Worley had the better arm.
Not seeing why you don't start the QB with the better arm.
we had an ad who couldn't write a decent contract if his life depended on it. and so on and so.
not the worley situation.
this is just another in a long line of f ups.
This sat. would not be a must win for a bowl game if Simms started against SC.
If you think a true freshman gave you a better chance at beating USC with 1 week to prepare....well i dont know what to say. He proved that was wrong.
