And in so doing not only damaged his own legacy but severely damaged the university he gave nearly his whole life to. Isn't that some measure of punishment in and of itself?

First, I think it's debatable as to whether or not he had plans to retire because there was some legitimate speculation that he would. Regardless, there is a huge difference between you deciding to do something with no pressure other than the circumstance you create and being forced to retire by the University. Additionally, with something unprecedented like this, anything short of flat out firing is irreprehensible.

Let's hope not. This bastard deserves everything he's about to get.

Years later??? Sounds just like the Catholic Church defense, it will all come out eventually( after NUMEROUS more victims)..And as for "stringing up" Paterno??..First of all maybe you should check your use of an analogy like "stringing up" before posting it so carelessly and second off, how can ANYBODY justify Paterno not following up on a report of ANYTHING relating to a sexual act on a minor?????..Anybody who is holding Paterno blameless is just plain blind..Or stupid..Or both..And in case you didn't notice the timeline, Sandusky wouldn't be "walking around" on ANY bond right now if Paterno had followed up on the initial incident..It would be resolved by now with either jail time or Sandusky getting cleared by the legal system...Sure hope Paterno sleeps well knowing how many victims he could have saved by choosing to do the right thing instead of only being interested in wins for his precious "record".....
JMHFO
We'll see, but I think the game against Nebraksa won't be just his last home game, but his last game period.
That's not mean at all. You're simply stating the way it ought to be.

This is going to sound mean, but...
the old man doesn't deserve to make his own choice about when he should retire. Sorry. The board has to fire him.
What is this BS about "years?" Now you're just making sh_t up, thats absurd, this wont take years to identify all the guilty parties.
I understand the timeline, I also understand that neither you or I know what McQuery told Paterno, or what he told the president. And that is a fact.
Even Trevor Matich on ESPN who has been very outspoken in his outrage over this, and I dont feel any different BTW, even says we need to let the investigation run its course. Gee what common sense.
Now you can go back to your Nancy Grace and Geraldo shows and beat the drum for instant justice. Some of you guys are hilarious.

Yes I do. I know two kids were raped, witnessed by a GA and a janitor. Fat moron. None of this is speculation. Also, there will be more to come out I am sure. Get back to your hole.
GFY billy badass wannabe, you don't know what exactly was reported up the channel, and what was instructed down the channel. I'm going to lean on the side of due process here, and not some lynch mob mentality of a bunch of idiot UT fans.
There is no stopping this thing now, there is not much question that a conspiracy of silence was in place, one by one the guilty parties will be identified. Now you can go back to your best Stone Cold Steve Austin impersonation. lol :groupwave:
When Paterno got word from McQuerry that his former Def. Coord. had raped a boy in the football locker room, how could he keep them both around at the same time? I mean one of them is lying and the accusation by Mcquerry is not just serious but one of the worst things you can accuse someone of. BUT he gave one a job and let the other keep using the facilities and coming around like nothing happened. If you are so close to Sandusky, then how do give his accuser a job on the staff and eventually promote him to recruiting coordinator? On the other hand you let pedophile walk free on your campus after your former QB came to you to tell you earth shaking news. You know Sandusky is calling McQuery a liar. Boy Joe Paterno you really cant stand up for anybody. Not the kid who was raped, not McQuerry who told the truth, and you didnt even back Sandusky when McQuerry accused him of the worst thing you can accuse somebody of.You just let it go,kept them both around, and act like nothing happened for alomost 10 years.
