Yes it starts at the top. You are either going to have a class program with standards or you are going to be slimy and always looking over your shoulder to see if the NCAA is there.
His lack of discipline off the field may explain why he didn't fulfill his potential on the field. It takes guts as a HC to boot a starter rather than covering up as so many do.
Morley had the same opportunities as every other Vol player and far more than the regular student who doesn't have access to the best tutors money can buy.
I hate this happened. He may be a good kid that just ran through a tough time but he's responsible.

Are you kidding? There are alot of kids that wouldn't go to college under any other circumstances that get athletic scholarships, work hard, and make it.Who recruited Morley to UT? If he never should have been in college, why did we recruit him?
You just contradicted yourself. Does it start at the top? Or is it Morley's responsibility? You can't have it both ways.
Look, I'm no fulmerite, but you can't blame fulmer for this. Fulmer can't take his tests for him. And as a former UT student, I can tell you that the football students are taking the easiest classes offered on campus.
That said, there are two possible reasons that a UT football player fails to make his grades:
1) He put forth absolutely no effort, or
2) He simply can't read
This situation is unfortunate, but the blame does not lie with the coaching staff.
you never know who is or who is not going to pan out recruiting wise...academically or physically.Who recruited Morley to UT? If he never should have been in college, why did we recruit him?
one question, if he was failing, would he not have been academically eligible for the bowl game?I am all about the whole personal responsibility thing, but if CPF really cared about the kid, he would have benched him for the semester while he got his grades up.
Are you telling me that CPF had no idea Morely was failing? That is ridiculous and we both know it. Given those facts it makes it seam like CPF was just hoping to squeeze one more semester of eligibility out of him so he would have him during football season. In other words he was a willing accomplish to failure.
