Morley Gone??

Like Business said, it'll say University of Tennessee defensive back Demetrice Morley...

Like I said, I do not give a damn. If I know I did the right thing, but people outside my circle think I did the wrong thing, I really don't care.

Kudos to Fulmer, Coaching Staff

Isn't Morley the same one who caught a punt at the four yard line (punts should not be fielded inside the ten yard line) in the Outback Bowl then refused to accept Fulmer's admonishment as he walked off the field.

My guess is he was kicked off the team as much as anything.

A player that won't follow the coach's orders isn't worth having on your team - even if he's got six stars.

Hopefully, this was a step to show the rest of the team that refusal to follow instructions will result in serious repercussions. A little discipline finally at last. But it might be too little, too late, though.

Yeah most rational people think this way but one cannot ignore the negative implications it will bring.

As stated above, Heffney caught the punt. I didn't see the admonishment.

Just to throw something out there......Maybe just Maybe Morley was going to class and just doesn't have the smarts. I mean its easy to assume he was a slacker but not everyone can cut it in college. All I'm saying lets not crucify the young man, thats all he is, there is a lot of pressure for these athletes.

BOD could be right, i remember he had to go to Hargrove to get his grades up to get into college. Still those athletes have every possible advantage in classes. I guess the new Student Athlete tutor center just isnt cutting it. Maybe they should build a bigger more expensive one.

From my college experiences, a football player or not, if you go to class and turn your work in your making a C.

I don't know I'm sure other people have different experiences but it's hard for me to think that teachers at UT would put the academic hammer down on a football player that showed up for class and did his work no matter how awful it was.

EDIT: My bad he'sa Soph. still not a hard core course load. We're talking Eng-102, Mat 113, etc. maybe some 200's

I understand he's made plenty and too many mistakes through his Freshman and Sophmore seasons but I think he was on the verge of coming around. Playing a full season, about to go to through his third spring practice. I think he had potential. But whatever, its over now.

This is what kills me about UT fans. I mean when this guy signs with Tennessee everyone loves him but now he is a bum. C'mon this guy worn the orange and white for two years and maybe he didn't play like a All-American. But he was a true soph. and CPF said in fall practice that he needed to get better and he would be good one day, Im sure his play this year wasn't a surprise to any of the coaches. Anyway, fans can turn quickly. :matrix:

Who said he was a bum? There's been rumblings in this message board all year about his play.

If you can't get it done in a classroom, then you shouldn't be able to play. That's facts. No one's calling him a bum.

I agree. Business you played baseball and couldn't keep your GPA up and got suspended, Right? But now you are back in and on track to graduate. Well, I played basketball at a small, small, college and I went to class and all of the tutor sessions I could get. And passed by the skin of my teeth BUT I tried and I stayed in and graduated. So, I see your point go to class, meet with tutors, do all you can and you can play. But I was never given a C, to be honest the Professors never gave me anything and that was at small college, I could only imagine how hard it is at UT.:peace2:

I have a feeling he will take classes in the spring, pass them and get reinstated for fall.

Is that not a distinct possiblity? This is Fulmer were talking about, he believes in 2nd chances, 3rd chances, etc

I wasn't suspended. I was on probation and had to get my GPA at or above a 2.0 before the spring semester to play in the baseball season. Which I did.

With that you have to know who's teaching you. There were teachers that saw where I was comming from as a ball player (leaving on Friday or Thursday morning and not getting back till Sunday night then having to turn around and have tests and papers due, then have 2 midweek games one away one home, etc...etc..) They would see how that was a burden and gave me a little extra time to do things. While others were just complete assholes and made it harder and if I didn't have one little homework assignment one time they would go ape and go to my coach. In my 2 years at that JUCO there were maybe 2 teachers that were harder on me because I played sports.

All I'm saying is that I find it hard to belive that Morley went to his classes and did his work and got failing grades. If I showed up (excpet for those 2 teachers) showed interest in the subject, turned in my work, the lowest I got was a C.
