Starters That Kiffin Recruited

Chaney was responsible for Bray. Had Chaney went west Bray wouldn't be here. I think Thompson was responsible for James not positive though. And schofield isn't a starter.

Its irrelevant where Chaney did or didn't go after Kiffen left when it comes Bray.

Bray was on campus at midnight as an enrolled student the day classes for Spring Semester began the day after Kiffen left. He couldn't leave at that point without invoking transfer rules. Same with all the other Early Enrollee's.

Regarding Hunter:

1. He was an LSU lock. Everyone knew he was going to LSU
2. In November we suddenly started hearing that Hunter may be unsure and Hunter took an official to Tennessee
3. 5 days after Dooley was hired, an LSU lock decommits and commits to Tennessee

I'm sorry, but if you think that, within 5 days, Dooley was able to turn a kid who wasn't interested in Tennessee, you're completely dense. Hunter wanted to come to Tennessee, then the coach left. At that time, Hunter wasn't fully committed to either Tennessee or LSU. Once he talked to the new coach, he was back on board. Had Kiffin not gotten him in the bag, though, there's no chance Dooley would have turned an LSU lock in 5 days.

Thanks for a respectful post.

Hunter Took a visit to Florida also.

IMO, The jump coach and Dooley was the deciding factors for Hunter. Wether Kiffin recruited him or not, Dooley bagged him.

"I'm not a fan of Kiffin, just posting facts for the naysayers". For the naysayers of the guy your not a fan of? If you want to defend Kiffin fine but why act like you don't carry his water when you obviously do. Why else try to defend his recruiting? It doesn't matter if Kiffin signed 6 of our current starters the fact is in 2009 which was Kiffin's only full recruiting class he signed 22 players of which only 11 are left. He signed (2) 5 star players and both are gone. He signed (9) 4 star guys of which only (4) are left and only one of them is a starter. There is no doubt Kiffin and CEO can recruit but the 2009 class was as close to a total bust as you can get. What's the point of even trying to defend that fact?

btw govols182 your stats are severely skewed in that due to timing your really only giving Dooley credit for one recruiting class since last years class hasn't even played a single game yet even though you state Kiffin had less time. Just a ridiculous pointless completely misleading look at reality. Nice job

The best standard is to look at starters by recruiting class as compared to SEC norms.

SEC Norms on 2011 Starting Rosters:
2007 Class: 2
2008 Class: 5
2009 Class: 9
2010 Class: 6
2011 Class: 2

UT-2011
2007 Class: 1 (Kiffin lost potential starters Creer & Coleman)
2008 Class: 6 (Walls was a sign-and-place player from this class; Lathers is a starter when he returns)
2009 Class: 2 (Teague & Hood)
2010 Class: 10 (Kiffin landed 5 that I can credit to him)
2011 Class: 3

So, by SEC expectations, you would expect each coach's contributions to the 2011 starting roster to be as follows:

Fulmer: 7
Kiffin: 12
Dooley: 5

Instead, what we have is:

Fulmer: 7 (despite several likely starters lost by Kiffin)
Kiffin: 7 (almost half of what it should be)
Dooley: 8 (above expectations)

From a 4-Year Perspective:
% of Recruits Who Became Starters
Fulmer 2007/2008: 40%
Kiffin 2009/2010: 20%
Dooley 2010/2011: 40%

Kiffin is the weak-link in starter-impact on this roster.

Good to see you're still throwing all your weight behind B.J. Coleman.

Who do the EEs go to, then? Hamilton?

When Cyawyaw picked up the phone and told them not to go to class, they were no longer Kiffin's recruits. End of story.

BUT, I've been generous and given Bray et al to Kiffin.

BUT, if we want to play the utchavis game, then it is academic. They aren't Kiffin recruits. Game, set, and match.

Incorrect. Kiffin had him in Orange, he was just going to be another NSD surprise, just like we Vols like 'em. Dooley needed to get the ball rolling, so when he talked to Hunter and knew that Hunter was still on board, he said to go ahead and go public.

Most of Kiffin's headline recruits are gone.

And imagine some of the other "stars" he had coming in to the 2010 class...

1. Brandon Willis (bust; transfer)
2. Glen Stanley (bust; transfer)
3. Markeith Ambles (bust; transfer)
4. J.C. Copeland (bust)
5. Delvin Jones (bust; dismissed)
6. Jose Jose (bust; arrestee)

There is no chance in Hell that BJ Coleman starts over Tyler Bray under any coach without the last name Fulmer.

Coleman >> Simms.

Game, Set, and Match.

PS - I like Matt Simms, and he is going to be under center for us some this year. He played his heart out in the games we couldn't win for Bray to come in and win the ones we could.

Any attempt to count the 8 EEs for Dooley is absurd. They all made the decision to go to class and thus be locked in as Vols before he was even mentioned as a candidate for the job.

You are basically right, but technically attending class didn't matter. What mattered was being on campus as an enrolled student on midnight the day classes started. When that happened, they were subject to the NCAA tranfer rules.

Hamilton covered it in his press conference the day after Kiffin left. Orgeron and every one else, including the press, misunderstood the rule.

That's also why the DE driving into Tennessee that Corey Miller played with, whose name escapes me, wasn't affected even though he was enrolled. He had never made it on campus and just drove to North Carolina instead.

I didn't ask that. Who gets credit for the EEs? Hamilton?

More delusional nonsense. Kiffin couldn't even get him to visit USC.

Correct; Brandon Willis.

Nice attempt at revising history, but Jose wasn't going to be part of the 2010 class even if Kiffin had stayed. He had long since decommitted.

There is no chance in Hell that BJ Coleman starts over Tyler Bray under any coach without the last name Fulmer.

Coleman is on top-10 NFL watch lists for being drafted next season. Let's see how Bray does against real competition this year.

FYI: Your boy's favorite QB, Jesse Scroggins, is now 4th string at USC.

I think it's the other way around. It's highly likely only a coach named Kiffin would start Bray over Coleman at this stage in their careers.

Needless to say though, it doesn't matter. Coleman >> Simms. That's Game, Set, and Match already, and we haven't even thrown Tajh Boyd out there yet!

The Kiffin debacle becomes more debaclicious every damn hour that passes.

Dense people are dense. Kiffin is known for NSD surprises, and turning a lock on NSD is just that. He does it all the time. That's the excitement we all loved so early. Hunter was one of those surprises.

Things just got good

General Neyland.

Game, Set, and Match.

Like I said, I've been gifting Kiffin Bray et al. And Kiffin's recruiting still sucks relative to where it should be. But if you want to play the acolytes game like chavis, it's over, Rock!
