so far, we have breast fed 5 years to long, troll, joke, vaginitis, biggest joke.

what i don't see is, i like this recruiting class and how it's shaping up. this is going to be a fantastic class that i am excited about and can't wait to see take the field so they can go kick some butt. 99gator, you're an idiot if you think this class won't be wearing SEC championship rings when they leave knoxville. i bet the seniors leave knoxville with a winning record against florida and bama.

You've seen exactly that, but mass / volume is apparently a problem for you.

Some bad replies to you 99 but it's because of your apples and oranges comparison.
IMO roster management is > recruit rankings. If that wasn't true no way do you get clocks cleaned by Bama in 09 and have the season you did in 10. You had talent, truckloads of it. You did not have the right talent or the talent you did have in a great position to win. UT has to excel what FL sucked at last year, making more with less. It's DD's recipe and we see this year and next if he can do it well enough.

Waco in my readings gets this better than you ever have.

I'm in agreement with 99. The current class as of today is underwhelming and people have the right to be concerned. It could certainly change though by signing day.

I saw Joseph say they are "light years ahead of last year". I hope they have some tricks up there sleeve because I thought last year was an exceptional year regardless of ranking. Maybe he was talking about overall organization but still it seemed like a strange comment. I do think alot will change between now and Feb but landing a couple of 4 star DT's and/or a 5 star OL sure would make me feel better. With everyone committing so early this year you have to think alot of these kids will be reconsidering between now and signing day. Hopefully we will turn a few heads on the field and some kids will take notice.

There is way to much time left to know one way or another how this class shapes up. We could get commitments from Autry, O'Brien, and Patterson and all of a sudden this class looks great. We could miss on all 3 and this class starts to look shaky. Last year at this time we weren't leading for Byron Moore, Marlin Lane, Marcus Jackson, or Curt Maggitt.

You are terribly arrogant for a fan of a team that was middle of the road last year, and will be again this year. There are multiple positions that Tennessee is in better shape at than Florida in only Dooley's second year. After 3 coaching changes.

oh, i agree. talent isn't everything.

there's the famous line about bear bryant that he could beat you with his or yours.

you have to coach them and develop them, etc, etc.

i say all the time, 1/3 of almost every recruiting class does nothing. flunk out, kicked out, transfer, injury, etc.

it's just the more highly rated the players, the more likely that the ones who pan out, pan out at a high level.

the other thing that's true is an exceptional player or two can lift the level of play of everyone around them which is what makes auburn's season in 2010 so remarkable. cam newton and nick fairly made two very average units good enough to go win a national title.

i just believe in the rule and not the exception to the rule.

it's very hard to go out and win big if you are being out-recruited within the league.

so, to use mississippi state as an example. they beat florida and georgia in 2010. two teams with much more talent. but, they still lost 4 football games. so, they overachieved (based on talent) and still lost four games. that's good at mississippi state, but that won't fly at tennessee.

I thought last years class was very good because it filled a lot of needs. Hopefully we can close strong again this year.

Are we not sending guys as well? I mean if the school that he's committing to only showed up then why the drama with the hats on the table and what not? Wouldn't make much sense

If I was 99gaytor I would be more concerned with Fl. State dominating them in their state than Tennessee's recruiting class.

This was cryptic as hell or a random observation in Humphries thread. Either way go Skeet.

im sure he thinks Keith Niebuhr covers the gators.

I'm not talking about Keith Niebuhr. And I'm fully #teamskeeter. You have to admit all the Gator talk makes it look less and less likely the Vols have this one in the bag. I'd love to be wrong. UT would be a shocker to most ATP.

i haven't said this before but i will now.

florida state coming back to national prominence is more of a problem for recruiting for tennessee than florida.

it's yet another school that will step into alabama and georgia and other parts of the south to cherry pick a recruit here or there that tennessee might have been able to get.

florida and florida state both get a lot of quality in the state of florida and then go cherry pick a lot of guys in nearby states.

when florida state was down, they couldn't go into alabama and grab some of the talent they have so far.

it's just another competitor for tennessee for out of state recruits.

After seeing the practice pics of Tiny, losing this one will sting less if it happens. I certainly still hope he comes to Knoxville though.

College football and recruiting is cyclical. Always has been and always will be. Everyone competes on a national stage now for recruits. You have an advantage in your state but we'll take our chances going forward. Dooley, IMO, is beginning to prove his mettle and his eye for talent. We should revisit this talk after February...

Tend to agree with 99 on this whole "FSU is back" thing.

When they were "back" we won 5 SEC titles, played for 2 national titles, and won the 3rd highest amount of games in the decade for any team in the country.

It's not like they are back and UF will get nobody. we were getting guys with them good, and we'll keep getting guys with them being "back".

Anyone else curious why DJ is talking to all these Florida guys and will not speak to anyone covering UT? He hasn't taken Brent Hubbs' calls for weeks.

Maybe we need more hot sauce:thumbsup:. Something tells me that alot of teams use it, along with cash(AU) and it's making recruiting tough. Maybe they can talk Jelks into jumping on board. Could be another situation where the local kid feels like he was not recruited hard enough.

I also agree with ORANGE & WHITE,

UF is down right now, and other schools are up. It IS cyclical and goes in cycles, just as he said. We had our run, now it's other programs (Bama, Auburn, LSU, etc) turn to try and run the tables for a few years.

Hopefully UF will get back to form here in the near future.
