Who cares about Saban going to Bama....it's only been a few hours and I'm already tired of hearing Bama fans talk about them winning the SEC and NT next year I need to move out of this state.

New coach same team. Same people on here were saying SC would own us with SOS. The program at bamer is in bad shape, no coach will turn that around. Saban is getting paid and will be gone in 3-5 years.

SC is 1-1 with less talent.

This is my last post on the Nick Saban hire. I think that our University did whatever they had to do to be able to put out team in the best position to win games and COMPETE for championships. I'm not saying that he is the second coming of Coach Bryant or anything, but he is the best College Football Coach that money could buy at this moment. Now we will see if he can earn it.

Oh, so you decided to go after the best right after RR turned you down? Or are you saying RR is better than Saban so UAT settled for paying top dollar for second best?

Calvin Cowherd is tearing Saban a new one on the radio because he didn't have the marbles to tell Huzingua and his coaches (called them on the phone) he was leaving. Said the only Steakhouse in Tusc is Arby's.

Did you just hear him go down the list of all the SEC coaches which make it such a tough conference? For five minutes he talked about all the coaches and how it's so tough to run the table in the SEC, thanks to Saban, Spurrier, Meyer, Richt, even Rich Brooks and Houston Nutt. No mention of You Know Whom, of course.

My thoughts on Saban:

1. He's a classless lying bastard, as evidenced by the way he lied to everyone at MSU, at LSU, and now Miami. Why anyone would trust him enough to send their kids to play for him is beyond me.

2. Having said that, however, he's a great snake-oil salesman and recruiter. He'll get the talent in Tuscaloosa, some of it from us. Recruiting in West TN just got tougher.

3. I actually think he'll be at Alabama for awhile. I can't imagine another NFL team giving him a shot now, having rejected the pro game for college. And he'll either be successful, in which case Alabama will not be outbid for his services, or he won't be successful enough to command the kind of money it would take for another school to hire him. This salary locks him in there for awhile, IMHO. Wonder what his buyout is?

4. The heat just went up on Fulmer, obviously. He will now have games every year against Saban, Spurrier, Mark Richt, and Urban Meyer. It's going to be awfully difficult to go 11-1 or 10-2 when you have four games against that group every year.

I wonder about the $$$ being paid. If we are breakeven with CPF getting $2M/yr and TN and AL are equal in generating revenue and managing cost, how can they afford this? I guess there is booster money involved.

Also, the most pertinent point is that Saban is a well established coach ho'. If he is successful, how long will he stay? If he is unsuccessful, how long will the Tide tolerate the burn?

What's the line on Saban staying in Tuscaloosa for 3years.

Bama and SC are not comparable programs. Bama will turn it around, probably as soon as next year. SC never has been a football school until they decided to go after Lou Houltz then Steve Spurrier.

Even if it doesn't pan out, I give SC and Bama credit for trying. Too many UT fans and the administration seem content to play mediocre football.

Fulmer's retirement just bumped up a couple of years.

Is there any way we could make a little adjustment in our contract with Bama? The 3rd Saturday every 3rd October? Once every three years is enough time to prepare, right Phil?

Considering CPF own a pretty good record vs bammer (technically 11-3 with the longest win streak by any coach over the tiders) I like playing them every year.

i dont want to play Saban every year

You can add Saban to the list of coaches in the SEC who own Fulmer:

Spurrier
Richt
Meyer
Tubberville

Forget about winning the SEC under Fulmer going through that gauntlet every year.

Going 11-3 against Alabama sounds good until you realize that they had the worst 14 year span EVER at Alabama. Take out wins against Mike Shula and in the probation period, what do you have?

Still owning bammer. Self-inflicted wounds do not temper my feelings.

You know they played football before they joined the SEC, right? And you may want to check the heisman records to compare SC and UT. Lastly, I would put the SC fan base for football up against just about anybody, including bamer - those people are crazy.

All I'm saying is, the Orange sky is not falling. Bamer is not becoming a great team next year.

Get ready for a return to Alabama dominance and us being regularly behind Florida, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, and Alabama... if we are lucky we can compete with Arkansas and South Carolina year in and year out.

I'm sooo LMAO @ Bama fans that hate Frachione (or however you spell his name) for leaving like he did and welcoming a coach who is now much more famous for doing the same things. BTW, nice timeline: ESPN.com - NCF - Saban rolls with the Tide, takes Alabama job
I think Saban is seriously overrated, as the only school he suceeded at was LSU where there was no in-state competition, the very reason why they hired him.
