'12 NC OT D.J. Humphries

Dooley called him this morning in Little Rock to tell him.

interesting....would be a huge pull away from the Gators imo. I still believe UF stills leads on him like they almost always have throughout his recruitment.

Let's ALL remember that one recruit does not make or break a program.

If he does pick UF, please don't start having people go overboard on this thread.

This one won't be over until the kid is on campus at whichever school.

I think a lot of people --myself to an extent-- see Humphries as the kind of savior of this class. Maybe we need to move past that.

I want to make this thread go even longer by asking the question and seeing who can answer honestly.

Who needs DJ more, Florida or Tennessee?

Florida by a longshot.

Gonna be a Vol IMO though, not as confident as I once was though.

That's because he is more than just a recruit. He would represent a HUGE win over a rival for a top flight prospect. This is more about winning the battle than the player we get from it imo.

In all honesty I'm not sure he is ready to step in and play right away. He only weighs 260 or so right now. A lot of people around him feel that way though he is against red-shirting. Gaining 30-40 pounds is do-able by next season though. But it's not a given because he has a high metabolism and doesn't gain weight to easy. He's not one of these OL that look heavy.

It will definitely be overboard.

He isn't ready to step in and play right away, but it'd still be a huge get by the staff. However, I'm remaining pessimistic and hoping to be pleasantly surprised on Friday.

oh yea it will be meltdown mode you didnt even want kimbrow and it was a pretty big deal when he picked vandy lol

Perception is reality, the perception of our recruiting by a percentage of our fan base and most outsiders in general is poor. Big names and national recruits are needed to help with the face of our program. A lot of recruits care about the class they are joining. DJ isn't in the biggest position of need, but he is an elite national recruit that would give our recruiting a much needed uplift.

This. Plus it would be a recruiting war won over a big rival.

Perhaps so, but how many recruits have actually lived up to that hype the last 10 years? I can only think of a few. Tebow, Vince Young, and Reggie Bush.......and even those are few and far between.

I imagine you are right though. You will have some on this board going crazy.
