Do you pull for SEC teams? (Merged . . . again and again)

During the regular season I only pull for another SEC team when it will help UT's cause. During the bowls, I like to see the SEC sweep them all. I won't be pulling for UGA or UF but when it is all over I would like to see the SEC walk away with at least 75% of the bowl wins (hopefully UGA will be in the losing 25%). It will shut up the other conferences and only help our cause by strength of schedule in the future.

I would NEVER root for an OOC school against an SEC school unless it affects TN's chances for a NC. TN is a member of the greatest conference in college football and I want it to stay that way. I would like to know how many TN fans that would never root for FL live in TN. TN is all SEC. I live in upstate SC and there's a lot of ACC fans here (the day SC beat Clemson, GA beat GT and FL beat FSU was GREAT). I constantly hear about how the SEC is overrated by them and an OSU buddy of mine. The most important game to me besides the TN/PSU game is the FL/OSU game. Florida MUST win this game to shutup my OSU buddy and the rest of the world about how MI is the true #2 team. Give me a break and cry me a river. LawGator, I'm pulling for you guys big time. Good luck. I've already talked trash about FL's defense so I hope all goes well. Personally, I think OSU and the Big 2 are in for a shock. FL's no slouch and they can (and I feel they will) beat OSU. Just get the ball to Harvin and play some SERIOUS D.

My loyalties are to Tennessee, then the conference. If Tennessee can't win it, i'd rather the SEC.

other than the obnoxious fan base, the Gators under Meyer aren't the same loathsome Gators under Spurrier. I don't know how to explain that further, but I find it nearly impossible to not like, or at least respect, UF now (other than Leak's crybaby tendencies when Tebow is in the game).

I'd like to see Leak taken out of the game early and Tebow make TOSU's defense look like PeeWee leaguers.

I despise the Buckeyes, so that leaves me with little choice in the matter.

I don't really think a Florida win tells us anything about the UT program, the converse is also true. A Florida loss tells us nothing about the UT program. I can tell you that Ohio State would give UT a beating that would make the Arkansas game seem like a close contest.

However, I have a feeling that the national media will shine the spotlight on the SEC with a Florida win, because they will need an explanation as to how a one loss SEC team beat the mighty Buckeyes.

Well, if Florida wins we'll have to get used to these statements from the media:
"The better team didn't win"
"If they played 10 times OSU would win 9, it just didn't happen today."
excuse after excuse after excuse

Considering Florida outgained us 320-220 and out FD'ed us 22-13, I'd say it won't make us look better or worse. Should have been a 10 point loss for us, but we managed a squeaker.

Does the fact that we lost by one point to them show how good Tenn. football can be or does it really not say anything about the state of Tenn. football because it is just viewed as a tough rival game?

Then why is ND your 2nd favorite team?
ND isn't our rivals. When UT and Notre Dame play I always root for UT. But every other week I hope they both win.

A florida win does nothig for us. Loyalty to the conference? It doesn't matter! If florida wins, will vanderbilt start getting 5 star commits from california just because theyre in the same conference as the national championship? no. The school that wins gets the honors. All I'm saying is that if you pull for florida in this game, you aren't a UT fan.

Who made you the all-knowing college football fan? I've bled Orange for 28 years and I'll be hoping UF wins. Your logic is extremely flawed.

I have no "second favorite" football team, especially one that is perennially overrated as ND.

It only proves that given enough time to devise a plan. Any coach, especially one as good as Meyer, can pull of an upset.

No one gave OSU a chance in hell against Miami and look what happend.

All I have to say is screw gators, go Buckeyes.

I am with you HawaiiVol. I dang sure don't need anyone telling me which team to root for, so I can be a Vol fan. Ridiculous statement. I will pull for the Gators, and every team we have played that made a bowl game, especially SEC teams. Blaker, if you think that makes me less of a Vol, you are sadly mistaken.
