Believe it or not, I kinda admire your optimism.
Or you could be delusional.

Chizik is still being investigated.
jg has it right, Calhoun is the only coach ever in a revenue-generating sport to get in this level of crap and survive; and Chip Kelly doesn't mean 10% as much to UofO football as Calhoun means to UConn basketball.
The only thing left in question at this point is the NCAA's expedience and how much more dirt Yahoo! sports can dig up. He's done.

Much less got Pete Carroll to "resign".
Kelly is done. Whether it's before the season starts or a year from now, he's done.

SI article:
Oregon spokesman Dave Williford, fielding an SI.com request Friday to speak with Mullens, said, "Rob and the athletic department stand by our original statement" that the school "[has] and will continue to work with the NCAA on this matter." He told Yahoo!, "We believe we did nothing wrong."
That may still be true by the letter of NCAA law. Even after Lyles' admission that his recruiting materials were a sham ("I gave them, like, old stuff that I still had on my computer," he told Yahoo!), even after reading about the lengths he went through to help James become academically eligible and to manipulate Seastrunk's family situation so that he could sign with Oregon, it's unclear what, if any, NCAA rules were broken. The role of figures like Lyles is a relatively recent development of which the NCAA is only now trying to get a handle.
jesus kelly himself sent the guy letters thanking him for his help in planning the recruiting visits. that in and of itself is a major ncaa violation. there is no gray area here. And if kelly thought he wasn't doing anything wrong why orchestrate the coverup?
as for cal, we at least seem to have our ass covered and unlike oregon we didn't renew his recruiting service the year after he gave us the info we requested. Tedford isn't some drunk dumbass like kelly.
This is what we like to call denial.
Sounds about right
Whatever it is, it wont be good
Those in Oregon blowing this off is in for a rude awakening
I dont see Chip Kelly saying
"I dont know this Willie Lyles that you speak of"
as cooperation
See, the NCAA can use his statements to the Oregonian reporter against him. Plus, all the phone calls that were made to Lyles, even after Kelly said that they had distanced themselves from Lyles, the man he had earlier claimed he did not know.
This is direct involvement by the Head Coach. No ifs, ands, or buts. Far worse than what USC did, or OSU, or UT Basketball.
Bama got probation and almost the death penalty because a booster in Memphis paid a handler for a player. Ever heard of Albert Means.
Oregon is toast
Yup. Can't wait to see the clueless look on Duck fans faces when he gets canned and seasons get vacated. Although it's more likely that most bandwagon fans will bail and we'll go back to seeing more USC, ASU and UDub fans in Portland than Ducks.
You do seem to be a bit more pessimistic than most Duck fans, though, I'll give you that; the overwhelming opinion seen on fb here is that Kelly and the rest of the staff are still 100% legit and in the clear here, and Lyles is just trying to drag his name through the mud for some reason I still have yet to hear.
