HBO's "Game of Thrones"

I DVR'd the whole season without ever watching one so i wouldn't have to go through the week to week withdrawals. Watched the first half Saturday and the second Sunday. That was awesome. I just finished reading the WOT series and had been looking for another to get into. Now i have to drive an hour to a bookstore so i can actually find the Fire and Ice books not even the local library had them here. I have a question. Is Snow Jon's actual last name or just the name for bastards?

That is the generic bastard name for kids born in the north.

You can order a box set of the first four paperbacks from Amazon for less than $20.

Read the book on a suggestion from a friend. Will never take their suggestion again. Juvenile writing combined with a trite and predictable plotline. Disappointed in HBO for picking this up.

Really? It is considered an instant classic by many.

I know I am posting waaaay after the 1st season ended but this series is the best show on TV since The Wire. I have read the first book and can't wait to start on the rest of them. I am not even a big fan of fantasy but this has me hooked because of the depth of the characters and the rich, intertwined story. Excellent.

This is a great series. I recorded the entire first season and have watched the first 6 so far. Are the books any good?

The first book(which is all I have read thus far) is excellant and from what others have said the entire series is a must read.

:good!:

I think I'll scoop up the first book today...
If I were you, I'd go ahead and order the first four. You will want to keep reading the series.

Finished season 1 last night, and I thought it was well done.

For those not familiar, the TV show actually reduces characters and plot lines from the novels.

They made Arya adorable so it's gonna be sad to see all the stuff she goes through later.

Nobody mentioned Jon Snow yet, I can't wait to see his side of the story the next few seasons

I told my wife when we started watching that Snow, Tyrion, and Arya were the most interesting characters. Be interesting to see how they play out on screen.
