Article says Frank is a consultant...for now.

So can he develop that player as an 18 yr old, or is he better suited to teach them on the NBA level? Just saying they are totally different game. Not against the guy and don't really know who I favor, just looking at some more solid info to base my opinion, rather than grabbing the latest hot name and jumping on board.

How old do you think 60% of incoming stars in the NBA? Whats age got to do with it?

I would guess that he was the first choice but wouldn't leave Boston until after June. So, Hamilton asked him to at least help us conduct our search. If we would be willing to wait until after the NBA season, he would likely join us!!!

I see no issue in this:

1) We hire Frank next week (we'll say Friday).

2) The Celtics agree to give him until two days before the playoffs start to recruit, put a staff together, and talk to current players, etc., etc. We only need one or two more recruits if we keep Ware and Jones.

3) He sticks with the Celtics till the end of their playoff run, and becomes coach here.

Sounds reasonable I believe.

I hope that's the case.

Hamilton's job is on the line here. He has to hit a home run, or at least a triple. To keep the baseball analogy's going, he can't afford a hard hit single or a lucky double.

I.E. Pearl. We saw how that turned out.

Yes, but I'm afraid of what Hamilton thinks is a "homerun" hire.

What Hamilton may think is a home-run isnt the same as what Haslam and Cheek think is a home-run.

There's a reason Mr. Cheek said he is going to be involved in the coaching process, and that's because Mr. Haslam told him so.

Chris Mack is underrated here. Where is Gregg Marshall? I think he's the favorite to win the gig.

Who would be on your list?

Frank is the guy I want. Doubt I will be happy with any thing else :)

Stevens, Smart, and Frank are my top 3. Anything else I will be upset with until the games are played. These 3 names would be enough to get me excited before games are even played.

I will support anyone that is brought in though.

Why would UT be asking him for recommendations on possible coaches? This sounds very fishy to me. He hasn't been at UT for years and has no other ties to UT, but they want his recommendations on who to hire---no way.

Will add. Totally forgot about him.

Plus I think Mack would be a home run hire. Not sure why I put him in the doubles category

Well, June isn't going to work for the next coach. We need someone here now to try to hang on to current players and our two recruits. We also need to recruit a big man for next year. Waiting till June to bring in our new coach would be fatal to next season.

I'll gladly sacrifice one season if we get a big-time coach like Frank that will win a lot over the long-term.

Just my opinion.

He would be allowed to recruit a little and talk Harris and Hopson to staying.

Regardless of the coach, I think we will loose one of the 2. It has already been stated that the 2 dont gel.

I believe that if Frank is the guy, there will be an announcement well before June. That alone should be enough to hang on to current players and 2 recruits. Yes, we do need a big man. We do have an interm head coach you know. If the word gets out soon enough, I think we could still get our guy.

That is still time enough to try and sell Harris and Hopson on an NBA guy and possibly convince a signee to stick around.
