Brown and Knight have both expressed some interest in coaching again. Sloan didn't officially retire, but he sure sounded like he was done the last time I heard him say anything.

Sloan just left a place he has been coaching for 2908645 years. No way he'd even consider this job, ever.

After UT has already spent 50K on a "headhunter?" Yeah, um, no. Im telling you, this is our guy. I may be setting myself up for dissappointment but it wont be the first time. This is a smokescreen. Im betting that the administration told Hamilton if he had another reject-fest debacle like we did with the football coach search, he would be in hot water.

Lawrence Franks--the pro game is different than the college game, including recruiting and managing the players on a daily basis. I question why? Besides he's 40, coached the Nets and asstd under O'neill? What are people basing their opinions on?

Because around the league they say he's as good as any X's & O's coach in the game? Not too mention he was the lead recruiter for O'Neill at UT and really helped stocked the talent that led to Green's success.

Umm... he is widely respected amongst players and his peers. He took a geriatric Nets team to the division title and the playoffs a couple times. He still managed to keep the team from completely tanking when the ownership decided they didn't want to spend money anymore. He has recruited at the college level. I could go on.

I'm starting to get the sense he's the guy. Now, I'm cautiously pessimistic he's not coming here. But I get the feeling he's the #1 target.

How about his recruiting pitch every time he goes into a prospect's home. "Yes, I can get you there. I was a head coach in the league for 7 years and I just recently spent some time with a few alright basketball players. Rondo, Garnett, Allen, and Pierce.. Maybe you've heard of them?"

I didn't ask for someone to toss out things you have read. Did his players respect him when he started 0-16? (or something like that) Taking an NBA franchise on a run for W's doesn't mean anything to me as far as the college game and his specific skill set he brings as a HC at UT. If he should be HC, what's he going to run? Basic O principles? D? Big man focus? Guard focus? Traps? Pressing? How will he adapt from NBA? Recruiting plan? Staff? He can't bring a staff with him. That's the info I look for, not just random opinions based off random opinions of others.

Jason Kidd swears by him. He made Vince Carter CARE ABOUT BASKETBALL (at times). He runs a modified princeton offense if I'm not mistaken.

He's a huge defensive savant, and is going to demand good half court defense. I wouldn't expect much of anything else.

The man can coach. There won't be too much of a transition "problem".

I can't tell you what his recruiting plan will be or his staff. Kind of hard at this point.

When have Jamie Dixon and Jay Wright ever failed to recruit a competent high school point guard for 6 years? And Wright's Final Four is a trump card in his favor as well.

I agree with your points. I'm just saying that, based on results (W/L) for the past six seasons, the coaches could at least be debated. They need to hire Frank, so we'll be excited about the same coach for a change. :)

So can he develop that player as an 18 yr old, or is he better suited to teach them on the NBA level? Just saying they are totally different game. Not against the guy and don't really know who I favor, just looking at some more solid info to base my opinion, rather than grabbing the latest hot name and jumping on board.

I would guess that he was the first choice but wouldn't leave Boston until after June. So, Hamilton asked him to at least help us conduct our search. If we would be willing to wait until after the NBA season, he would likely join us!!!

He was a college coach in the 90's. I don't think that will be much of an issue.
