I don't know where all the Gerald Jones apologists are, but I do know where most of the hatvol sack strokers are...on this thread.

Jones probably blames the coaches at U.T. for him not getting drafted in to the NFL. From his perspective, it couldn't possibly be his fault that he isn't getting drafted, right???

I am speechless at the people saying "how can we fault a player for speaking his mind?"

I mean surely lots of players across the nation get recruiting calls directed to them by other teams recruiters. Surely that happens all the time right?

You dont think GJ is going to come out and tell everybody he bashed the University do you ? You also dont think TT put him on the phone with Gabe not knowing for sure what GJ was going to say to Gabe did you ?
TT didnt have GJ and GW on the phone together just for them to have phone sex.well maybe he did.

The real scumbag here is Trooper Taylor. Gerald Jones was a tool. He was used by Trooper. Race card got played. That's all there is to it.

Questions, (and at this point I'll really only accept LWS's version of events):

Do we know he badmouthed UT? There is nothing in the radio commentary suggesting he did.

Is everyone mad because he complimented Trooper? Is that why the kiddies are chest-bumpin' mad?

As of right now, VegasVol's synopsis of events is spot-on. Based on the actual open source evidence, GJ toed the Dooley line - which is the Vol line as it stands now. LWS, if you have some additional insight though, I'll be glad to take it on board. Have your feelings towards GJ been changed by this revelation?

Does it really matter with the general population on this site whether or not the accusations are true? I mean any chance to throw someone under the bus, especially players/coaches is jumped upon around here.

TT was loved around here when he wore the orange, now he's looked at like a piece of trash because he left, to better himself and his family no doubt. He actually got off the sinking ship before it totslly went under.

GJ says he did not negative recruit against us. Until someone like Tiny or whomever comes forward and says otherwise, thats all we've got.

GJ is not some great and beloved UT citizen that everyone suddenly decided to turn on. His issues started his Fresh year when arrested for smoking dope with a recruit on a joy ride. He didn't come into camps in shape and ready to play. He was a malcontent whiner during the coaching changes. He through tantrums on the field was defiant to coaches, sulked on the sideline and wasn't ready play contributing to our losses to UCLA and Auburn in 2009. His toughness and character are questionable and then on top of that spotty history there's a lot of smoke around the fact he was talking to a desperately needed recruit that was torn between us and Auburn. There's only one thing he should have said and that would be, "boy there's only one place you need to go and that is Tennessee...".

Time for him to go away. Will never be an all timer. Kelly Washington should thank him.

Yes he was but then was less then gracious upon his exit after the opportunity Fulmer provided him and proceeded to act less then professional towards UT after he left. Those antics are kind of cute to a point when he's on our team but totally annoying coming from a rival. He knows it and rubbed our faces in it last year. He lacks class and professionalism.

This isn't a court of law but a court of opinion and GJ appears to have done something fairly egregious in that court. There's enough credible posters pointing to an issue with GJ and negative recruiting against his own team. GJ's history is bad enough that unfortunately for him the burden of proof in the court of public opinion is on him...karma sucks. When you act like a prick enough times it will usually come back to haunt you. Good riddance...

One more piece of Fulmer garbage finally gone.

This is true...If GJ did in fact bad mouth Tennessee, he is indeed a true pos. These players have went through numerous coaching changes in their 4 years here. It's no suprise that feelings were hurt in the process. In the end, he should have kept his mouth shut, but as we all know, that is just not the way GJ rolls...
