Trooper and former players recruiting against vols?

i would like to think gerald jones wouldn't do anything like that. he gave his all for ut through arguably the roughest stretch of vol history. he did voice his opinion quite a bit but that doesn't justify an assumption that he recruited against ut.

I wonder if Trooper has contact with UT players, and if there are any violations for the contact. He is dirty.

I don't really have a problem with him knowing either but it makes you wonder about Gabe's "CS is going to FL" thing though

Listen,

Everyone who has played the game knows you have a relationship with your position coach that you never really have with other coaches. Trooper is the one to blame here. I am not defending Jones, if that is indeed who it was. But how a coach can put a former player and one that is still on campus in a position like this is unacceptable IMO. This guy used Jones for his own benifit and it clearly shows his lack of character and is one of the worst examples of what a "Coach" should be that I have ever heard about..... This kind of conduct shouldn't be allowed or tollerated..... I know if I was Dereck Dooley I would have alot to say about this.....

I am not defending Jones...... But that isn't doing your job. He shouldn't be able to put kids in those type of situations..... If he cared anything about GJ he would have never let that happen. Taylor is about Taylor...... He shouldn't be able to walk away from doing stuff like this.....

Jones will pay for what he did..... UT fans will never forget this.... I am not defending him. All I am saying is Trooper Taylor took advantage of that relationship with no thought of what Jones would face. It shows you what kind of a man Trooper Taylor is......

I see what you are saying, and I agree it stinks and is ethically wrong. But Trooper is paid to get players to AU and if he has to use GJ he will and wont think another thing about it.

Oh, yeah. They certainly both deserve our ire. But we're kinda used to it by now with Trooper.

Trooper's shady and most know that. GJ should be ashamed at being used by a con man like that

I could buy it being GW...but not GJ. He said quite a bit as this past season unfolded about laying the right kind of foundation to return the program to an elite level. If he had that big of a grudge, he simply could have said nothing and we wouldn't have known any different. But for him to actually speak the words about laying a solid foundation and teaching/mentoring the young'uns on the team...it just doesn't comport with someone who would sabotage the organization mere months later. :no:

This. It's hard for me to believe, from what I've seen, that these kids could love Trooper Trailer -Park-Trash more than Coach Baggett. If they do, it says a lot about their character and who they are as a person.

I understand doing everything you can do to get guys. But there has to be some point were certain actions are too much. I think this should be one.

This is something UT fans will always remember GJ for. Not the games or catches. This is his legacy now. A traitor...

I don't think Taylor or any coach for that matter should be able to put kids in situations like this and walk away like nothing happened. Because it is going to follow GJ for the rest of his life. It is just against everything coaching stands for. People should be doing this because they love the game and care about the kids. Stuff like this is completely opposite of what college athletics should be about.....
