I don't think it is a violation. recruits visit and get to know players. Players and recruits continue to talk throughout the recruiting process. Former coaches talk with thier former players forever, even when no longer at smae schools. Goes on everywhere.

I can't see a violation but I could be wrong.

I understand that, but it's a no-no for former players to contact recruits.

This doesn't make sense to me...Maybe Jones thinks coming to TN is the reason he isn't going to make it in the NFL?

I mean I just don't see what he has to gain in this by pushing people to Auburn unless Trooper is throwing him cash to bad mouth TN.

Trooper recruited Gerald to UT. Seems like Gerald's allegiance is to Trooper in this case. Makes no sense, and if it's true, I would erase his name from everything he ever did as a Vol. I don't care what his thought process was in doing this, he's not a VFL, or a Vol at all at this point.

Think about the turmoil that GJ has experienced while at UT. I also assume that GJ wasnt too happy with all the attention going to DM and the lack of plays he was getting.....but that last part is only my assumption.

Let's see. GJ is not a booster. Not a recruiter. Not an alumnus. Has no ties to Auburn whatsoever. Taylor is using a loophole in the rules. Now there is no claim of money but when you have a loophole, you can use whatever means to exploit it....take from this what you may. You have a clean tie to the outside world to exploit the recruiting process. Draw the conclusions...

This is what I don't understand. What reason could Gerald possibly have to trash Tennessee? Makes no sense to me.

Are you really surprised the NCAA doesn't have provisions for this sort of situation? I can't imagine it has been an issue very often in the past, if ever.

If this is true, it's pretty disappointing, but I can't say I'm all that surprised. Wasn't GJ quoted last year with some "Woe is me, what did I ever do to deserve all this?" sort of comments? I can certainly see why he might have some resentment and hard feelings towards UT, but actively recruiting against your school is still pretty low. Again though, this is all speculation right now, correct?

True, but the same could be said for DMO and Stocker, and they aren't doing this. As I said earlier, if he was just praising Trooper then, as much as I hate it, it isn't that big of a deal.
