Fulmer's Quotes

Uh..has anyone stopped to think and say, hell, he's actually right?

Cause, well, he is..

Hate him or love him, he's right..I know it's partly his fault, but still. Doesn't change the facts here..

phil's real quote: "I can't believe I screwed up the program and walked away with all these millions!"

Fulmer is a "Good Ole Boy"....... and was a pretty good recruiter. When you took away Cutcliff, he lost big!! No head coaching ability himself. VOL faithful need to look forwards and not backwards. If there was anything to Phil, he would volunteer to be recruiting linemen for UT! After all, he is still drawing a check, right?

We would be a stronger, more competitive team today without the Hambone Experiment. Period. If it were politics, the Hambone Experiment would be the equivalent of Chamberlain's Appeasement.

His nine games quote is interesting. After all, he probably would have won nine games last year.

Would someone wake me when TN gets to the SECCG every three years again? Thanks.

Phil left this team without a QB. His roll of the dice on that kid that is now playing baseball is the primary reason that we are in a fix with two newbies. Can't excuse it. He is still culpable.

Top ten every year? Seriously, what bizarre world are you Fulmer fans living in? The last few years we were finishing on the fringe of the top 25.

Could you wake me when the last decade of UT football is more than 1% better than the 70s, the decade you called the height of mediocrity?

Not really.

Tajh Boyd (possibly BJ Coleman) would be starter now. I'd say both would be an improvement, although I think Simms will come along.

Yeah, that 1979 SEC Championship picks the 70s up a great deal.

The problem is the malaise starting in '72 carries on until '86......

You're right, the many championships we won in the 2000's really elevate that decade.

The solution is to make a change before you waste a decade and a half.

We would be in the exact same boat we're in right now with Boyd. We would be bringing a young QB along. I like Tyler Bray's arm better than both you mentioned.

BJ is mediocre for UTC. Tajh has shown nothing at this point. Nick Stephens, the guy that just transferred because he couldn't beat Simms, is your starting QB.

We made a change in the 1970s. It took a Tennessee legend 9 years to win the SEC with Florida on probation. However, he would elevate Phil Fulmer to OC and recruiting head, and it would start the greatest run in Tennessee football since General Neyland and result in our greatest championship ever.

Sounds super. Bill Battle had a pretty good run there for awhile. Should have let him coach for 17 years and see where we end up. You don't want to bring up a historically mediocre Florida program being on probation with Majors when the SEC's best program was trash during your hero's best run.

I somehow don't think fans of UTC believe that in the slightest.

However, I'm sure GoF ideology is correct again (1979 SEC Champ!)

Tajh would probably be the starter. He's been injured, but looked good for a RS freshman in mop-up duty. He is clearly #2 behind an established / pro athlete starter. He would be a significant improvement at TN, although I don't want to diss Simms.

Stephens is an enigma. Not sure about him.

A reason Bama was down was because Fulmer beat them like a drum. But, they won an NC in the 1990s - in fact, wasn't it the year Phil took the reins full time? Not as dead as you want to believe. In the meanwhile, a superpower arose in Gainesville as well.

You have never and can never win this one.

We should have had a competitive QB on the roster before he left. It is obvious we didn't. The reason being that Fulmer's only QB recruit in his last class was a well known baseball player. Fulmer hadn't signed Tajh yet. Don't care how committed he was. Coleman and Stephens both tucked tail. If either was SEC caliber they would still be here.

Kiffin definitely ran off Coleman - and the divisive effect of Crompton's play. Would he be an upgrade right now? Probably, if only being a senior.

Boyd is definitely SEC calibre though. I'm not getting into who-signed-who semantics when we are on the third coach in three years. I mean, I could play the Cam Newton card at this point.....

A gag order regarding UT football should have accompanied the buyout.

I was thinking the same thing, in a twisted way it's very hypocritical for him to talk about the state of the program he's most directly responsible for. Anyone pushing him for AD should be hung in town square.

If you can't see that the quarterback-less class is killing UT right now, there is nothing I can say to change your POV. Even with Boyd there would be a huge learning curve this year.

There is what gets me mad. He should decline comment on the Vols or hell tell the truth, that it was his blindness and inability to right a ship that HE led astray is the true reason HE was FIRED.

Hoping for 6 wins huh Phil, i guess your still hoping some school desperate enough will hire your fat sorry a@@. Derek Dooley is 10x the coach Ole Phil has been the last 10 years. Hitch your britches up on that.
Ok rant off.

Well said! I don't want to hear any sh_t from Phil. He still believes that they are going to hire him back. I'll take 3 6 win seasons as long as we don't get him back. When (never) is he going to take responsibility for destroying the program? He's a sorry Azz. Being loyal to the university is no excuse for not doing your frigging job. Is ego is so big he thinks he never did anything wrong. He needs to go see a shrink--daily--until he can come back down to earth with the "little people" and reality.:realmad:
