Tennessee under NCAA investigation over use of recruiting hostesses

Gotcha. I don't think he'll be directly connected, but the potential is there for a few calls having been made behind the scenes to get the ball rolling.
Never know, that could be how it played out.....I've seen around the net and heard a few people talking that it could have been Spurrier since Lattimore was involved

As of now we have the 5th best recruiting class according to rivals. But I completely agree with you---the damage is done regardless if they find anything or not. Interviewing commits/possible commits about this stuff might cause us to lose a couple guys. Hopefully not, but who knows.

We were 5-7 the year Kiffin took over. Not exactly a compelling argument to come to the hill. How did that turn out. NOT TOO BAD! Let's wait and see.

This link got posted in the thread from Witch Doctor about the "Writer" for the NYT.

Something Stinks In Pahokee 13psi

Pretty compelling evidence about where this came from.

Does the athletic department have lawyers on call? I realize this may be a dumb question but wow, if ever there were a case to be made for biased, libelous reporting and biased, unfounded, libelous, defamatory, bad-faith actions by a governing body, this is it. For those who haven't clicked and read, the same "writer" who broke the Bryce Brown story, broke this one. He happens to have been a student at Syracuse in '98 when we beat them on the way to our NC; he was one of the students from that institution that complained about the officiating and claimed we were given the win. This is extremely obvious, cut-and-dried bias and libel. We should sue, now. For enough money to endow several new scholarships for about a thousand years.

Now Miller's dad is letting the truth be known. The NCAA won't find anything, this is another one of their witch hunts.

"Do any of you people realize how stupid you sound on this board? Kiffen gives his credit card to a female student to go to S.C. to see a recuit? And the sad part is 100 people fall right in line believing it. It's just unreal. Someone could post Kiffen had someone shot to get a recuit and there would be 50 people posting "inside info" on how the boosters distributed the money to pay for the hit. There needs to be an I.Q. test before people can post on this board. It's unreal some of the garbage people will believe. Or maybe I'm just "stupider" than the average poster. My God people, get a life!"

Easily the greatest thing I've seen on Catspause.

According to Miller's father, the hostesses weren't all "UT'ed Up" as that one poster on the Rivals link said.

This has been one fast moving thread.

I hope nobody else gets a silly idea about driving out of town to see any of the best HS football players in a game, yells when they get there, and holds up a sign saying come to UT.

Geez... the nerve of these ladies.

I hadn't heard the story about the hit the Boss ordered to get the recruit. That could be yet another secondary violation unless the mark was a booster, then I'm not sure how the NCAA would view that.

Does anyone know how long this investigation could last?

Since they are already interviewing recruits it seems it could be settled soon right?

During my time at Tennessee I was a hostess and my daughter is currently a hostess at MS State and I will assure you I nor she has done anything against any rule. I would go as far as to say most do not. I do know that every organization, every business, every family, every whatever has those who do not follow the rules and it makes life hard on everyone. Please everyone let this play out before any judgments are made. I cannot say it didn't happen......I cannot say it did....I was not there. It just surprises me they are picking at the small details off the field and not addressing the bigger issues especially on the field. Case in point....bad calls determining outcome of the games.....players trying to physcially injury another player.........I personally think they need to be looking at what happens on the field and when they get the game following the rules then look at the other things. Okay I feel better now that I have vented.

+1. Welcome to the board. Post often. (Just one thing. How did you let your daughter go to Miss State?) :)

Didn't Kentucky actually get in trouble a few years ago because their fans were using facebook and myspace to recruit?

Great post! Spot on!

The NCAA lives in the Twilight Zone. I really don't see how they can continue with the level of ignorance they insist on displaying.

They won't address the officials and their terrible playcalling,

...they won't let American boys practice long enough in college to be competitive with other international athletes (e.g. basketball),

... they refuse to give us the playoff system that most fans want,

... they refuse to recognize that BCS conferences are not the same as non-BCS conferences so we have to root for the University of New Mexico or NMSU to beat someone every year to preserve some diginity in our NC game,

...they've done so poorly that even the US Congress takes time out to advice them,

and yet, they're upset because women from UT drove to SC to yell and hold up a sign showing support for their team.

What total morons! How in God's name did these people get the jobs they have? Is there no merit in sports administration? Do they arm wrestle for promotions and pay raises? Who are these idiots?
