I'm confused. Are the hostesses an all-female group? I thought they were part of a coed group called the Orange Pride, who do tours, admissions events, etc. for both athletes and 'regular' prospective students.
Why do I ask that?
If the group was all (and only) women, and if the group only worked - as the article alleges - for the "hourly for the football office" - that would be a violation of NCAA regulations.
In 2004, because of the high-profile scandal/alleged rape involving the University of Colorado's football team, hostesses, and recruits, plus later allegations of impropriety at Arizona State and Oregon, the NCAA changed the regulations about hostesses.
No longer could 'host' groups be single-sex (read: all women) and they had to either be student-athletes themselves or they could be tour guides (etc) but in that case they had to provide tours and assistance to non-student athletes as well. Bama got rid of its Bama Belles, Texas redid its group, etc.
NCAAFB Fanhouse article author was just confused, right? B/c otherwise the very group's composition is a violation (which I am not saying it is -- I was under the impression the group was now coed, did other admissions work too, etc., so it didn't violate the NCAA regs).
