Tennessee under NCAA investigation over use of recruiting hostesses

There's also the possibility that Lattimore simply didn't get what he thought he deserved from said hostess--and this is how he behaves.

If that's the ultimate story, good for her!

Then the story becomes that the NCAA is adding to the coercive power of these recruits over such hostesses. Shame on them!

She has, but it's all tongue in cheek.

I have no doubt that this happened and she was somehow involved. I just can't imagine it gets tied to our staff as wanton disregard for the rules.

I agree that it is tongue-in-cheek, but I'm not sure that is obvious to an outsider reading the board. When people say things like, "throw xyz at him, he'll commit", it seems like more than it is.

I don't think that our staff was taking advantage of the hostesses...but this kind of reminds me of the tutoring situation. An environment is created where you want to do all that you can do to help, and in the end you do things that you think will help, but the university (or coaches) don't want you to do.

So the takeaway is that some hostesses went to a high school game and holding up a sign that says "Come to Tennessee?" That's the worst thing alleged in the article?

Yep, that's about it. There are also allegations that they might have sent some texts and that they might be pretty.

Unlike Bryce who gave her a spin move after contact...

The only real thing I find odd about it is the timing of the investigation and the fact that they are talking to uncommitted recruits. (Uncommitted in the sense that they obviously havent signed a LOI yet, nor will they til Feb 2nd.) How could they NOT think this could disrupt the recruitment of they guys? They have to realize it would. I also find it odd that they arent interviewing some of the lesser sought after recruits.

I wouldnt be surprised if this didnt put a scare into some of the uncommitted players UT is in the hunt for or even some of the verbal commitments they already have. The timing of this couldnt be worse.

Ah... we're seeing just how dirty recruiting tactics get these days. Tennessee is winning the recruiting battles for some of the better prospects in the nation. We're seeing the backlash right now from the others that lost the battles.

And yet, someone is getting paid money to do this professionally.

I'm leaning toward Auburn on this one. Auburn just got burned for some of TT recruiting high jinks. He is recruiting Lattimore very hard. Would take some of the heat off of them.

this story sounds very very very very very bad.

they already have Lattimore openly discussing the violation. and the NCAA knows there are more.

how is this anything but damning... and a real step or two backwards for the Kiffin era??
