Seriously? So if UT decided to change to crimson and white, you'd be ok with that?

I dont give a rats mule as long as they win and we sing rocky top, and yeah sure, my high school colors were crimson and white, so it wouldnt be hard to swallow, but seriously, youre an idiot for suggesting the outlandish. Cmon dude, if you dont get it then GTFO.

How many of the against crowd are actually from Knoxville? Most of the ones against the Black unis are over 50 and live in a rural area or one of the small towns. You dinosaurs are the reason alot of people look at UT as a fanbase full of old folks redneck and hillbillies. Id say almost all of the under 50 actual Knoxville residents and UT students loved it. Get over it this isnt 1965 in mayberry. The players and recruits like rap and things like Black unis. Most young people do.

One day ....I will write a book called, "The Young and the Dumb."

You will have a bit part in it for that comment. I am under 40, well traveled, not a redneck or a hillbilly (live in a big city, used to live 5 miles from South Beach), I know it is 2009, and rap does SUCK!!!!

I am against the black jerseys for 1 reason...and 1 reason only..............TRADITION! I really thought they looked good. The team responded and the fans loved them. Every 4-5 yrs....drag the black jersey out and wear it (like ND does with Green). Please don't make it a yearly "black out" crap like the also rans of the country. How stupid did Georgia look in Black helmets???

And you're the idiot for making such a blanket statement that you knew you didn't actually believe. I was merely calling you out on it. So, if you YOU don't get it..follow your own advice.

I'm hoping they wear the black for at least 2-3 games each year, including 1 or 2 when they wear all black!

It is not so much about the black jerseys, it is the lying that took place, the cover up per se. Now we had football players visiting the AD and asking to use the black jerseys. But also he had to lie about it. Now what will happen when he has to defend the football team. Will they think he is lying once more? What if he has to go before the board and state a fact as he sees it. Will they believe him? Will the commisioner believe him when he says we have done nothing wrong? Who will believe him anymore? No big deal about the black jerseys. Our AD lying, is a real big deal. I can't put much faith into anything he says from now on.

Phil, get over it and move on.

Waaaah!

If you were not complaining about this you would be complaining about something else.

Dinosaur?? I am over 50 and live Rural. Believe it or not we have indoor plumbing, TV with more than 3 channels and know that black taco's give you the runs. Now before i pull my gauge and do a drive by on your grill, i liked the black jersey's for Halloween. Your opinion on old folks is D.O.A. :cool2:

You must seriously consider divorce every year at your birthday and Christmas. No honey, i am not throwing you a party or buying you an X-Box. :eek:lol:

UT first fielded a team in 1891. The orange and white jerseys were not worn until 1922. I believe they wore black jerseys prior to '22. Can someone confirm this? Not that I care, but maybe if confirmed it will bring some solace to those whose sensibilities were affected.

must have been before 1889

Orange and White
The school colors of orange and white date to April 12, 1889, when Charles Moore, president of UT Knoxville's athletic association, chose the colors for the first field day. His inspiration came from the orange and white daisies that grew profusely on the Hill. Students endorsed the colors in 1892.

Colors started in 1889

Well my 2 cents for what it is worth...:ermm:

I think the color combo was not the best but my support for the black jerseys comes from hearing the players wanted them. I feel like they have practiced hard, played hard and had to deal with a lot of ridicule and bad press not only from the media and rival fans but from their own fan base as well. I believe allowing the players to wear black jerseys is a small reward which they deserve. If the players want to wear black then I support them and nothing can change my mind concerning that. IT is TIME at Tennessee...GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!
Kiffin stated on Vol Calls that the Black Jerseys were for the players... Who can argue with that?

Oh man......
:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:
GET OVER IT ALREADY

He wasn't lying initially....and even if he did after they were decided upon, who cares? If the secret had been leaked to everyone, the reaction the stadium gave wouldn't have been half as crazy. I lost my voice before kickoff because I was so pumped, and that goes for mostly the entire student section.

Jimmy Hyams is not the only Vol fan offended by the black jerseys. Almost all of the fans over the age of 30 or offended. Alot will not tolerate Kiffin doing what he pleases. Slive has just about had his fill. Obviously Hamilton has no control and is a liar. Some high powered donors will make the difference.

Easy there, Trigger. It's a colored jersey that they wore for Halloween, in recognition of the player's request in light of their hard work.

You make it sound like they clubbed baby seals at mid-field while burning a cross on the Power T and pledging themsleves to Osama Bin Laden.

Regardless of whether I liked it or not (and FWIW I was okay with it and thought it was cool as a one-time deal for Halloween, but fully expect to see orange in the future), it is hardly the end of the world.

Beyond that, I don't blame Smiling Mike for not telling that they would be wearing black -- it's called a "surprise."

You either a) have no clue or b) are just a troll or flamer.

I am well over 30, (over double it) and I am not offended, and a quick survey of threads re this issue show most over 30 who have posted are in favor of black.

Slive is more likely to be job hunting than CLK, and Hamilton is fine with CLK. Why is it you and those who are making such a deal about Hamilton not telling Hyams cannot grasp the simple fact that it would spoil the effect of the team coming out in black if word got out?

I don't know if anyone's seen this. Somebody mentioned they went to Tabb High School in VA. I found this on a Virginia HS football page.
