Yeah, as soon as I heard that, I KNEW the black jerseys were a go. He's always wrong.Hyams was saying yesterday before the game that he had heard of the fans and students wanting it but he had his sources (Hamilton) who told him that would not be happening. Hyams should see the writing on the wall that he is a tool and the bib overall gang is gone and he no longer has any inside info to validate rumors.
I hate to call anyone a liar, forgive me lord. But a liar is one that tells lies. And a lie is to make an untrue statement [there will never be black jerseys on my watch] with intent to deceive. That is what we have. So be it.

These ugly jerseys had to be ordered weeks ago. When did Berry and Hardesty talk to Hamilton? Some more bull. Who sent Berry and Hardesty to see Hamilton? Shouldn't they have went through their position coach, then Head Coach. Hamilton is a liar simple as that. And as far as Kiffin and the Vols getting known elsewhere, read this quote from John Clay, Lexington, Kentucky columnist, and I quote, "But there's little doubt Tennessee's punkish Lane Kiffin has purposely pushed some sort of conspiracy theory, claiming Florida and Alabama always get the calls, then taking a slap at Slive by saying, I'm sure we'll get one of those letters that means nothing." He doesn't have to answer to anyone. We'll see.

Jimmy Hyams is not the only Vol fan offended by the black jerseys. Almost all of the fans over the age of 30 or offended. Alot will not tolerate Kiffin doing what he pleases. Slive has just about had his fill. Obviously Hamilton has no control and is a liar. Some high powered donors will make the difference.
Rob Lewis said the same thing during his segment of Big Orange Sunday with Doug Matthews this morning. They kind of joked about the jerseys not being Addidas Tackle Twill although they were sure to get the logo on there. Rob said that he actually gained knowledge of the black jerseys about 30 minutes before the team took the field. I guess that someone could get on the air somewhere via cell phone for purposes of being the guy who breaks the story but to do so at that point in the game you're really just spoiling it for everyone else IMO. I appreciate the fact that those who knew kept their mouths shut.Hamilton said they were ordered a couple of days ago and made by a local company. I think the rush explains why the names were missing.
yessshere are my observations for what they are worth.
1. I am older and a doner and loved the black. I both loved and predicted the black.
2. Love swiper boys version of eric berry.
3. Virginia doner - please just take your ball and go home. Go root for virginia if you hate everything about this staff and what they are doing.
4. Hyams is a total tool and passed on the stories about singing rocky top all night long after beating fl and other private messages by coach kiffin designed only for the fan and doner base. Didn't know he was lez but did think that of the recruiting reporter for the paper.
5. You can check my threads but on thursday i deduced the we were wearing the black. I spent a couple of hours touring ut facilities with a client and someone from developement. I asked the development guy if we were wearing black and he said that mh has told him no and mh swears we are not going to wear black. I saw frazier but did not think to ask him. I am certain that he would have said no as well. We ran across a manager who i asked where was he hiding the black jerseys and he said " my official response is that i know nothing about any black jerseys." from that i deduced we were likely going to be wearing black jerseys. Later there was a tremenous amount of buzz about the black jerseys and i knew it would be pure genious for pr and for recruiting.
6. All the players, all their girlfriends, their friends, family, probably most of the student body and finally even heather harrington knew that we were wearing black. Any good reporter knows you have to sometimes check outside the official channels if you want to break a story. I found out without really trying. Shame on hyams for a weak effort at sourcing out a story.
I was 100% in favor of getting rid of Phil last year.
And....I really didn't like the black jersey's.
You probably need to come up with a new theory.
For a Halloween game every few years, it was fine, but that whole combo of white helmets, black jersey's with orange pants was rather putrid looking.

Well my 2 cents for what it is worth...
The black jerseys were suppose to be a surprise for the fans and that is the main point here. Who they decided to tell is their own business. I loved the surprise! When it was mentioned that their names were not even on the jerseys I joked "Well it is Halloween and those are their costumes. You are not suppose to know who they are." lol True fans know the numbers right?
I think the color combo was not the best but my support for the black jerseys comes from hearing the players wanted them. I feel like they have practiced hard, played hard and had to deal with a lot of ridicule and bad press not only from the media and rival fans but from their own fan base as well. I believe allowing the players to wear black jerseys is a small reward which they deserve. If the players want to wear black then I support them and nothing can change my mind concerning that. IT is TIME at Tennessee...GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!!!!
