Looking Past The Upcoming Beatdown...

Too bad for Eric Berry he's learning to call a game just now.
Even worse for Eric Berry that he made the mistake of signing with a drooling stooge who surrounded him with a bunch of rejects, retreads, and retards as teammates.

We can argue all day about the timing of his decision, but I think you are absolutely right. It is quite possible that Kiffin wanted to test his OL to see how nasty they could get. Personally, I was wondering the same thing. I'm on record saying he called the exact play that I wanted to see.

Me too, I wanted to see us grind it over the goal line. In retrospect a play action with a pass to a TE slipping out would have been a nice change up...particularly if you put a tackle eligible former TE like Douglas into the line-up.

i can say with certainty that if you asked most ut fans what they were booing about saturday, their honest answer would be crompton and not the coaching staff. do i agree with it? no, not really but that was where most of the boobirds were aiming at

also, i can almost guarantee you that nobody would have complained about the playcalling saturday had we not had inept qb play that was behind the loss in the first place

I hate booing the home team PERIOD!!!! Never a good excuse...well maybe an accasional boo for Fulmer, but other than that NEVER!!!!

At that point in the game, any kind of throw by Crompton, or roll-out for that matter, would have sent shivers up my spine.

LOL...agreed he'd already thrown it to the wrong receiver in a previous short and goal situation and almost had that one picked off.

Yep, live or die with the ground game...unfortunately we had an NFL tackle playing over an undersized walk-on. Sullins' big heart and nice story can't overcome the physical mismatch.

The good news: Lane now understands what Crompton can and cannot do.

The bad news: We may run out of cortisone for our O-Line before the season is over.

WOW the power of the truth is like a smack in the FACE!
At least you could have used a favorite phrase from "Who we mention no names" and lied to us!

If it was just bad QB play, it would be one thing, but when your OL is getting dominated too, anything you do as a playcaller is going to look bad. He didn't have any options that didn't suck.

I'd like to have seen him try something else too, but really, I can understand why Kiffin called it the way he did, given the culture he's trying to establish (pulling Brown for going out of bounds against WKU, etc.). If you can't get two yards on two carries -- at home against a Pac 10 team -- then you might as well not have gotten off the bus.

yes I really didnt think of it that way
