Looking Past The Upcoming Beatdown...

it's obvious that the three game homestand that follows will determine how the season plays out for UT. Win all three, you can still win 8 games. Win two, bowl eligibility is still likely. Lose two and the whole thing comes unhinged.

You bash Pearl all the time. Now, you say the football team will get a beat down this weekend. A lot of people on here may respect some of your knowledge. But, I am sure a lot are tired of your pessimism as well. Do most of us positive people a favor and try to start optimistic threads in the future!!!

I for one see the glass as half full. UT does have a chance to win the game. If, UT has less turnovers. more rushing yards, and better special teams play.

Who the hell was booing the QB? Think of it as support for the QB and all the booing was directed at Kiffin for having Crompton in the game.

Finally, someone posted something very intelligent about the booing. Yes, it was directed at the coaching staff for continuing to play Crompton. It isn't Crompton's fault he wasn't born as a GAMER. He may have the knowledge and tools. But, he doesn't have the ability to PERFORM UNDER PRESSURE. Which is a must at the QB position.

I was cussing Kiffin the last three quarters for not giving another QB a chance. We only need a QB that can eliminate turnovers and hit wide open receivers. Crompton isn't the answer!!! I am tired of hearing the coaching staff feels Crompton is better than Stephens. They need to give Stephens and Lamaison a shot. If, they both fail. No one will be booing the coaching staff over Crompton's continued failures.

Crompton. Stephens has failed to impress three separate OCs. That speaks volumes.

Exactly. I watched Stephens on the sidelines during the UCLA game through binoculars and he wasn't even paying attention to the game......jawing with some defensive players etc. I predict he will play before the year is over since with our inept OL Crompton will sooner or later be knocked out of the game.

If Stephens was the better QB, he would have been the starter from the beginning. Lamaison was brought in only because we didn't want to play this season with only 2 scholarship QBs available. We just took who we could get.

all have assumed that we are going to get our asses kicked on saturday.we have a top flight defense.if we do not believe that we will be able to throw the ball, then just run it every down.take as long before the time clock runs out then run it.if we were to do this for quarter after quarter, the gay-tor nation will go beeserk because they will not see the ball more than four times a half.that said,it would mean that they would have to drive for a touchdown on 75% of their possessions, and that my diehard,longtime(1960's)vol fans just ain't going to happen.the frustration that will build on the blue side of the field will create mistakes on their work release souls.go vols, don't let them breathe.

Not saying this to be argumentative, but 3 and outs don't take all that much time off the clock, even when they are all runs. We aren't going to get first downs being one-dimensional. Unfortunately, I don't think our o-line is going to be able to generate much space for our backs... especially since they will give Crompton little to no respect, crowding 9 in the box most likely.

If, somehow, Crompton can complete a couple passes and force the gators to back off, then maybe we can have some success running the ball.

I totally hear you on keeping their offense off the field... but we have to sustain drives to do that. The UCLA game was a real blow to my hopes on us being able to move the chains consistently against the gators.

YEA after Tn beats down on Fla I don't know what they will do the rest of the season.... but I am guessing they bounce back

Here's a better idea, don't you give advice to people who have no respect for your opinion. If you and the rest of the homers around here want to be dumb enough to think Tennessee has a shot this weekend, that's fine. Just don't expect the people around here who actually live in reality to buy into that idiocy.

Dang man. Some of the things I've answered like five times. I didn't give an excuse for losing to UCLA. I gave a reason. Neusheisel and Chow are good coaches. Why do you not believe they are? Chow has won championships with USC and Neusheisel has beaten USC while holding their offense to 9 points. They are good coaches.

As for the loss to Wyoming last year. I told you... our coaching staff was horrible. Or at least Dave Clawson anyways. I think the offense would have gotten better with recruiting the right players for the system but that offense was horrendous. Did you see Michigan last year? Our offense was comparable to theirs. They were 3-9. They now have a year of experience under their belt and some players that fit the system. Look at them go. 2-0 and in the top 25.

4* Jonathan Crompton
4* Monatario Hardesty
4* Chris Scott
4* Vladamir Ricard
4* Ricco Mccoy
4*Gerald Williams
4* Wes Brown
4* Andre Mathis
3* Jeff Cottam
3* Dan Williams
3* Marsalous Johnson

4* Josh McNeil and 3* Austin Rogers are out for the season.

OOO ok i get.. the only difference you were talking about is what their star ranking was.. not how they actually have helped the team with their performance.. Get out of here and go to the recruiting forum if you're so star obsessed

I would have never.. ever ever ever ever.. thought you would be dumb enough to use Jonathan Crompton to actually help your argument

Be glad when our rankings on the field is actually higher than our recruiting rankings. It's been a while.

I'm not sure what section you were in, but the booing in section U was followed by complaining about the play calling and Kiffin's stubborness to lose the game rather than make a personnel change.
Imagine that. A section in Fulmerite Central *****ing. Too bad nobody there had the intelligence to complain the previous 10 years.

Your boy Fulmer left the coaching staff with zero options there.

There was a warm body on the bench that was never even considered. It really reminded of the Fulmer days - playing the guy you picked, rather than playing the game to win. In fact the disgruntled collection was that the game was Fulmeresque to the end.

That's the reason I don't totally detest Crompton. He got that fat piece of trash fired and made all the Fulmerite garbage miserable. For that, we can be thankful.

Come on down and ask the collective opinion of Fulmer as a coach. Everyone is glad he's gone.

But more importantly, and currently relative, they are pissed the current staff couldn't beat a decided underdog UCLA squad.

If you weren't on board with firing him after '05, I have no respect for your opinion. Thus, I couldn't care less that the boys in Section U came around after a decade of winning nothing. If they are mad now, they can always stay away. Better yet, wait for their hero to get another job and follow him to that destination.

No, just consistent. Fulmer is, was, and always will be garbage. He glory trained a couple of Rodney Garner recruiting classes to two whole SEC titles. He never won anything else. He is an obese version of Mack Brown or Lloyd Carr.

Phillip Fulmer was doomed the day Rodney Garner packed for Athens. I'm still shocked that he lasted as long as he did.

Hey was that same crowd upset last year when we lost to UCLA?.. and Wyoming?

i can say with certainty that if you asked most ut fans what they were booing about saturday, their honest answer would be crompton and not the coaching staff. do i agree with it? no, not really but that was where most of the boobirds were aiming at

also, i can almost guarantee you that nobody would have complained about the playcalling saturday had we not had inept qb play that was behind the loss in the first place

I thought this was telling, he was absoluely stunned. You could see Reaves veins about explode. Its not like UCLA players were breaking on the ball, they just sat on routes and sha-bang. I have to admit though, he's hitting those defenders in the chest with a tight spiral. So thats a positive...

Guys and Gals, I'm telling you the absolute truth here............if this coaching staff was "stunned" by Cromptons play on Saturday, we are in BIG trouble. How many of you were "stunned"?
