Looking Past The Upcoming Beatdown...

Is being a "good" fan saying UT has no chance this weekend and anyone who goes is wasting their time?

Yea, everyone who doesn't go to the game this Saturday isn't a real fan.. Your fanhood isn't real until you waste your money to go to a trash city to watch your team get double barrelled.

UT is overmatched this weekend in a way they haven't been in at least 20 years, and I don't see how anyone is a bad fan for acknowleding that. Normal rules don't really apply. I couldn't enitrely blame somebody who decided to just go see a movie on Saturday and skip football entirely.

Or Elmo, for that matter.

What did coaching have to do with our loss to UCLA?

You're not going to give any credit to UCLA. Their defense is good for starters. Yes, Crompton was bad but their defense is good. As for UCLA's offense.... you have to give them credit. They scored 19 points with a freshman quarterback. A defense that ranked #3 last year and is now being coached by a Super Bowl winning defensive coordinator. The kid got his teeth knocked out. I am definitely going to give credit to Norm Chow because Tennessee's defense is good.

How is that Iowa team any different from this Tennessee team?

Tennessee was 5-7 but they are not a team made up of 3* recruits. They are playing with better recruits than Auburn. Like half the starters/players getting significant playing time are from the 2005 class. That class ranked 4th in the country. Also, like I said... Tennessee coaching staff was horrible last year. That would be the cause for going 5-7. Tennessee upgraded their staff while Aurburn downgraded theirs.

At least my resume doesn't contain homer and moron, the only two entries you deserve.

I am neither. I just will not give up on my teams before the game even begins and would never say we about to get a beatdown. Very good chance we will loose this game, but there is a chance we could win.

Don't quit before you try and:

What's the point of criticizing Vol fans who want to go down to support our team?? That was the only point I was trying to make.

I would call that a fair weather fan.

If you want to waste a Saturday hanging around white trash in jorts and wifebeaters doing the Gator Chomp, have at it. Just know it doesn't make you a good fan. It makes you a lemming.

Gotta admit, those that can honestly* say they were in the Swamp if we pulled off the victory would no doubt have some good memories.

*I say "honestly" since I'm quite certain there are at least 250,000 Vol fans who claim to have been in the Sugar Bowl when we beat Miami.

No kidding. That's no a real fan. It's one thing if you have some sort of family obligation or work or whatever but skipping the game for a movie... better be a hot girl and you better get more than a movie out of it.

Did we have better recruits than Wyoming last year too? and UCLA just a few days ago?

Alright, name 'em..

So what's the excuse for the UCLA loss this year?

I agree. That's why if you love football and you have the time/money to go... why not? Watching it on tv would be a good memory but being there would be simply amazing. I couldn't imagine watching Lane Kiffin beating Urban Meyer live in Florida. Might be a short live memory because you might not make it home alive.

Dang man. Some of the things I've answered like five times. I didn't give an excuse for losing to UCLA. I gave a reason. Neusheisel and Chow are good coaches. Why do you not believe they are? Chow has won championships with USC and Neusheisel has beaten USC while holding their offense to 9 points. They are good coaches.

As for the loss to Wyoming last year. I told you... our coaching staff was horrible. Or at least Dave Clawson anyways. I think the offense would have gotten better with recruiting the right players for the system but that offense was horrendous. Did you see Michigan last year? Our offense was comparable to theirs. They were 3-9. They now have a year of experience under their belt and some players that fit the system. Look at them go. 2-0 and in the top 25.

4* Jonathan Crompton
4* Monatario Hardesty
4* Chris Scott
4* Vladamir Ricard
4* Ricco Mccoy
4*Gerald Williams
4* Wes Brown
4* Andre Mathis
3* Jeff Cottam
3* Dan Williams
3* Marsalous Johnson

4* Josh McNeil and 3* Austin Rogers are out for the season.

The overwhelming likelihood is that it's going to be a sickening, embarrassing, detestable game. The rational thing to do is to skip it and do something else with those four hours, and I wouldn't blame anybody who did. It's going to be four hours of Tebow-fellatio and the Gator chomp while our guys get it ground into their faces. Only a moron would choose to inflict that on himself.

(I've already got a fresh keg lined up for the weekend and some ribs to barbecue and some friends coming over for the game, of course.)

Right, that is the solution for fair weather fans who are along for only the good times without the bad... then pretend they've been there all along. Kind of like north florida trailor trash above the age of 35 (former FSU/Miami fans btw).

I agree its probably not going to be fun, however, I support my team in thick and thin. Glad to hear that you will be watching on Saturday, Vol fans that cower should be damn ashamed.

I hear you on the tebow fellatio though, my solution to avoid the Lundquist knob-slobbing will be the Vol network.

I'm going to a school function with my son, which would have been skipped otherwise. I'll have it on the DVR to watch later in the evening.

Yeah, the fact that we have no competent QB or OL had nothing to do with it.

Get you another tall glass of Kiffinaide broski.

Kiffin himself said he'll learn. There were many, many opportunities for coaching to overcome the personnel shortfalls, especially at home against UCLA.
