And I love how threads like this are so black and white. In threads like this, displaying proper reasoning skills = being a traitor. And when you say anything that even looks anti-"ALL VOL", then people come in trying to make their "bleed orange", "all heart" comments.
Fan 1: "I just don't see us winning this weekend. Florida is ready for us and our talent pool isn't deep enough to match well with theirs. We will try hard, but don't anyone get their hopes up so you don't come in here Saturday night and make 100 'the sky is falling' posts."
Fan 2: "Well our guys might not have Heismans, but they have HEART and they bleed ORANGE! We're gonna beat Florida! Go Vols!"
Contaire my friend. All I had was hope when my wife was given a 50/50 shot of survival 10 years ago. I did nothing BUT hope and pray. It was even out of the doctor's hands, so don't tell me hope doesn't do a damn thing. 10 years later, I still have my best friend so go away Debbie Downer.:thumbsup:Hope never accomplished a d@mn thing. It's just opium for the masses. Doing is the only thing that matters.
I am not one of those fans, but my question to you is this....Have you ever seen a huge upset? Happen every year in football. Not probable to happen, but could. IMO, our defense will make the game respectable...our offense will be our sore thumb. That is stating the obvious

I was over at rivals and could not believe how many people still think we have a chance to win. Its almost embarrassing to be honest.
WiseI know what you're getting at but it's overly dismissive. For instance, riddle me this;
In the absence of hope, what use is there in evey trying to accomplish anything. Every underdog, in anything, clung to the idea that fighting for it (whatever that may be) has a chance of accomplishing something good. That's hope.
Perhaps better to say that hope, in and of itself, has never accomplished anything.

Hope is a nice campaign slogan. But achievements are made by people with confidence, daring, ability, and yes, a little bit of luck every once in a while. Today, too many people substitute hope for hard work, but I digress.
I don't care if people have faith and hope. That's great. I'm not going to get all worked up about the Florida game because I don't feel like drowning myself in booze again, but if everyone else wants to hold out hope I really don't have a problem with that.
The thing that I'm worried about is these people that are throwing all their hopes out there for us to upset Florida are going to be the same ones flooding the forum with more "Crompton sucks", "Kiffin can't coach a lick", "I'm so torn up", "Worst day ever", "Recruiting is shot" threads. I just see it happening. And there's going to be the group of people that put all of their emotions and feelings on the Florida game that are going to be trashing Kiffin. It just gets annoying more than anything.
And in the back of my mind, I'm secretly holding out for an upset. But I feel like I can handle it when we're down bad in the 3rd as opposed to someone who has convinced themselves that we can hold it within 10 points.
Even after the debacle on the Hill last Saturday there are still those that think we will "shock the world". Maybe we should rename Neyland and call it "The People's Temple." Seriously, guys we are headed into the most hostile environment in college football to play a game against a team that has won 2 national championships in 4 years. Did I mention that they have the best player in college football at the most important position? I was over at rivals and could not believe how many people still think we have a chance to win. Its almost embarrassing to be honest. Look, I love the Vols and I have witnessed some amazing upsets in my time, the 86 Sugar Bowl comes to mind. No one said we had a chance then, but that crowd was decidedly pro-vols and electric. We wont have that emotional lift this go around. I want us to win, but honestly, we dont have a chance. I want us to show some heart, to play hard to the end and never give up no matter what the score may be. If we can do that, then I think CLK will have done his job in his first visit to the swamp.
why not go preach to the offenders then and leave us to our thoughts? Why should I give a rats behind what the posters on rivals think? I would rather go to tidefans and ask their opinion
