Gooooood Lord..

People are sad as hell. He's no QB, but he's a Vol. Let the man suck in peace.

Yea he is not a D-1 QB, ok hes a terrible QB but lets try and give him a break. The guy received death threats last year and went thru hell. I love the Vols and want to win every game but as true fans lets not try and ruin this guys life!

Yeah, lets face it, he's 10 or 11 games away from never playing another down of football again...I don't know that the pro thing is going to work out for him.

Wonder if CLK saw the tape from last year and thought he could "fix" him. My Grandpa always said...you can't make chicken soup out of chicken shi**. I am sure he is a good guy and nobody should go after him the way people have on FB...but he is the focal point of our inadequacies for the last 2 years. Sad, but true.

I really don't get the immaturity that comes along with college football fans. Especially Tennessee fans. Why bash someone that is not even getting paid. He is a student athlete. Hell, you don't even see NFL QB’s take as much crap as Crompton has for sucking. Look at Cutler he threw 3 interceptions on Sunday night. He will undoubtedly be the starter next week. Yes, he has proven himself but Crompton looked great in week one and very well could come back next week and look good again. Will he loose a couple games for us this year? Of course. But will Peyton Manning lose any games for the colts this year and a have a couple interceptions? Yes. I am just saying that anyone on here that thinks that he was going to go for the Heisman this year is crazy! He had a bad game. GET OVER IT! I would rather see a half empty stadium with true fans that understand the VOLS are our states team and that they are "kids" that do not deserve to be bashed and have their names dragged in the mud over a game. I am a true VOL and will always support my team. I said in the beginning that this year was going to be ruff because we did not have a QB that can play at a championship level. I also heard all of you say the same thing and cannot understand what made everyone think that it was all of the sudden going to change overnight. CLK might be good but he is not going to turn Crompton into a Heisman QB in 6 months.

I am with you 100% on this and could not have stated it any better!

Let the record show that I am sincerely ashamed of myself concerning comments I have posted about Jonathan Crompton. Reading about the the two professors knocking him really stung and made me take a long hard look at myself.

Please accept my apologies, VN. You too, Jonathan.

:cray:

Crompton played pretty bad, but he did start playing better in the second half. The three picks never really cost us anything because the score was 10 to 10. I thought crompton made some good throws in the second half. The problem was the line was so bad. If he had anytime at all he would have made alot more plays. Sullins did not have a good game at all. He was getting pancaked almost every play. Their D line destroyed our o line. I am also not impressed with our recievers downfield blocking. They need to work on that big time. We had so many plays that would have gone for big gains if our recievers would just attempt to put their hands on these guys. They ran around them everytime. Not just this week either. Montarios shouldnt had been touched last week for that td run if teague and nuke could block. They dont even touch the guys.

i can't imagine how much pressure is on him considering all the harsh words and threats he's received ....... i'd hate to be in his shoes...... how much better could he be if he didn't have to worry about all this?

how much better could he be if he didn't have to worry about all this?

probably not much better but I'm guessing his life would be much happier than it is now. It would be hard for a guy to keep his chin up walking around campus with all the crap flying

I just cannot find any sympathy for Crompton at this point. Some of you will label me a negavol or a jerk. But I'd love to see him succeed (was so happy after WKU)... but let's be real here.

He has received a free education.

He accepted and is starting in the leadership role of the team. Yet he has not accepted responsibility (as someone else noted ... Tebow did. That's leading.)

He's a 5th year senior.

He gave away the UCLA game with 3 (almost 4) interceptions. Sure the O-Line play wasn't stellar by any means... but he missed open receivers and threw into heavy coverage all day long.

He's a grown man and he is failing. In this instance I think the criticism is warranted.

If he wants the signs to go away, he will play better. Performance does a lot for fans (especially intoxicated college students) -- evidence just see WKU game.

And the Facebook stuff is his own doing. He shouldn't allow random people to be his friends on FB. Welcome to the internet, JC, people are jerks all the time.

He also has received death threats....have you?

I see Crompton every Tuesday and Thursday. Let's just say that if looks could kill we wouldn't be breathing right now.

I'm not a big fan of Crompton at all, but this idea that people will yell and scream at him to his face is laughable. As goofy as he is, he is still 6'4 230lb's and would pretty much slap anybody down that tried that.

Of course you could always try wearing a UCLA jersey and he might not do anything:)

I was at the game last Saturday. I'll be at the game this Saturday. I will be coming to work in FLORIDA every day this week. I wish I could hit the Fast Forward button right now.

I say leave the kid alone, let him continue to try and get his head right, if Lane thinks NS could do a better job he would be in the game.

I really can't imagine what Crompton is going through right now. I'm sure he feels worse than most if not all of the fans about Saturday's game. I'm just wondering if he can turn it around and just be mediocre against Florida. I'm having recurring nightmares of either a multitude of turnovers or numbers like he put up at Auburn last year.

I was at the game and have thought about this quite a bit. Crompton did not play well (an understatement); however the O line was not much better.

That being said, there is NO way we as fans should resort to the hateful ramblings and nefarious comments that have been directed towards him on this board and other places. He is a young man who, I am certain, wishes the UCLA game had never happened. And, I am sure, he is very capable of doing much better as was shown against W KY.

I have to ask if you were a prospective high school QB, would you want to come to a school and be trashed for not playing well? In my opinion, our actions as fans will affect young men who are considering UT as an option.

We must rise above the hateful fray. It is one thing to criticize a student athelete, and it is another thing to resort to hateful retoric!

Has anyone heard any comments this week about practice, such as how he's doing and such. If there is any week I'd like to have in depth info about practices, it's this one.
