Windy's football discussion thread.

So I purposely have ignored pretty much everything football related since last year. It makes me grumpy. I decided Id rather be ignorant then angry about the Vols for awhile. I'd ask this in football forum but I don't care what those idiots in there have to say. So what do the idiots in here think about Tennessee 2026? What is hopeful? What is depressing? Quick run down. This is first time in I don't know when I haven't even looked at a preseason rag.

New young QB????
New S&C coach supposed to be the shizz
Lots of talent
Looking forward to see how it all shakes out.

Yeah....I know many here will disagree but the Tim Banks thing was something I didn't agree with. Most of the complaints I heard were from people who generally seem to have sustained and engrained grass is greener idiocy syndrome. I think Tim Banks was fantastic. He's a great teaching coach and players do and will get better under him. He understands how to develope players, he just made players better. But cause the armchairs are all about schemes here we are. I think I'd be more upset if it wasn't Jim Knowles. Clearly he's proven. BUT I think you have to have the talant and IQ already there and recruited when you start complex schemes, I hope we have the defensive players ready for it, and chances are there will be a learning curve. Some might miss Tim first season. Jim will have to either simplify a bit until his players skill up, or if they startout where he left out some players may get lost. (i.e. Are our players ready for Buckeye's top level complexity) I hope I am wrong, and others know better. Tim banks is going to end up a big time D coach somewhere. He is part of the reason i just stopped following the news as it was all just pissing me off. I was for keeping him based on the players we had. If Jim is able to immediately take our current talant and and start playing chess though I will be happily wrong. Dunno about the rest.

Young squire, it’s about time you adopted the philosophical view of undefeated until they ain’t. Your offseasons will be far more pleasant.

When they hired Knowles, it was said that he would simplify the defensive scheme and playbook. There was even references to his success doing so at prior programs.

tl;dr

Moi with a couple of tackles for the Rams and JMIII with a pretty good game for the Cowboys in pre-season (don't call em "exhibition") games tonight

Jags with a 43 yard completion for the Jags but he didn't get a lot of chances to throw

GO VOLS
