By the way, the Shoney's restaurant location on Alcoa Hwy near McGhee-Tyson Airport is still up and running. It has been there forever. I remember going to eat there with my parents and my older sister after we saw the original Superman movie with Christopher Reeve and Gene Hackman. Per IMDB.com, it's original release date into theaters was December 15, 1978 .... I was 5 years old.

The Scrambled Egg Soup on the breakfast buffet is about my only memory there. They were nasty gross.
That sounds disgusting. Nothing worse tha runny scrambled eggs.

There is no reason anymore to go to either Shoney's or The Waffle House instead of IHOP. The difference in price is no longer enough to make up for the huge difference in the quality of the food.

When I think of The Waffle House, two types of customers come to mind :

1) Truck Drivers

2) Drunks trying to sober up for their drive home with some greasy food. I was this type of Waffle House customer many times for many years. So I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that.

I just don't think anyone goes there for the food. People go there because it's open.

My grandkids aren't truck drivers and as far as I know aren't drunks (8, 5, 2) and they love WH.

It's been a long time since I've been there .... Probably 18 or 19 years, so they have likely upgraded their food since then. I'm just going off of my own experience there, which was a long time ago.

My daughters and I go there for breakfast most Sundays (we go out every Sunday and they get to choose).
