Gerrymandering in Virginia

With continued industrialization. As machinery became more commonplace, and able to do the job without having to be fed and housed, large agricultural landowners would have shifted more and more to mechanized labor. Might have taken 20 more years, but slavery was doomed. Much like cashiers at Wal-Mart or Taco Bell. Mechanization is more efficient and cheaper.
lol.....Maybe it would have taken 30 more years. Or 42 more years. But it would have probably eventually fizzled out on its own.

Even Lincoln said slavery wasn’t the reason he started the war.

Public schools have done a phenomenal job of brainwashing multiple generations.
You thinking private schools have done a much better job of teaching the Lincoln "truth according to hog"?

What do you think would have happened with slavery if we hadn’t had the civil war?

Filthy dirty builders who grease their palms under the table????🤷‍♂️
but according to @hog88, they are better at knowing what is best for a state when it comes to electing a senator than are the actual citizens of that state.

Greasy palmed politicians electing another greasy palmed politician.....what could go wrong with that?

Do the citizens of the state not elect their state representatives?

So don’t we elect them to do what they thinks best for our districts and the state as a whole?
I would say they vote primarily based on what is best for the district.

Didn't you just like this post about who state legislatures represent?
Filthy dirty builders who grease their palms under the table??

Do you think that for the most part, state legislatures are good and honest people who actually have the state's best interest as their top priority?

State legislatures are politicians so by rule they are slimy grifters.

Which makes it odd to me that you would think we are better off having a group of slimy grifters electing a state's senators rather than the citizens of the state.

Citizens continually elect slimy grifters so it’s odd to me that you think we’re better off letting them select senators.

It would have eventually been made illegal. Society progresses.......

So, more like this:

Got it. I can see why my post seemed “lol” to you. 🤷‍♂️

lol....Nice try.
I said you are the one being inconsistent.
You are the one who constantly and consistently claims politicians are horrible people.

I have always maintained politicians simply lie on a continuum as do doctors, lawyers, plumbers, truck drivers, VN posters, and every other person.

It seemed lol to me because of the indefinite time line. It's not like we're debating jay-walking being legal.
We're talking about 3.5 million humans being enslaved.

It's one of those instances were time is of the essence.....wouldn't you agree?

Why?

Because society had progressed to the point where the critical mass finally viewed slavery as absolutely wrong and unacceptable.
So?

You seem to be arguing that the civil war was essential for the time, in order to change primate behavior that was 'moral' at the time, because you and other people primates have developed opinions a century and a half later?

(You can explain that before we wade into your comparative per "progress".)

But don’t you claim Lincoln was a liar? So why do you believe him when he said that?
