An ump of one of our recent games told my cousin that 2 rules changes are being considered to shorten games. 1) limit pickoff attempts to 2, and 2) when a relief pitcher is brought in they must face at least 3 batters.

Can't say I am a fan of either. Don't screw up a great game. I told cuz to tell him to get calls right the first time to minimize appeals. At a recent game there were 3 calls overturned.

I heard Chris Burke saying NCAA should mimic MLB game by implementing both rule changes you mentioned. I don’t like either one. I would eliminate the shift but not make amy other changes.

Why eliminate the shift? Shortstop was originally an outfielder. I see no issues with aligning anyway you like so long as it's done in a timely manner, of course.

They are both coming. I guess Frank knew ahead of time and was preparing for it. Don't need to throw over just keep get the hitter out. The second rule will not affect analytics guys because they don't pitch situationally. They throw who has the best velo, spin rate, and all those numbers. The sad part is guys like Kirby could not pitch with analytic coach.

I personally despise seeing 3 infielders to the right or left of 2B. Plus, if college is adoptIng MLB rules, they might as well eliminate the shift and follow suit.

I tape every sporting event that I watch, so none of these will shorten the game for myself. When my team get's behind early, a game can sometimes only take 5 minutes to FF/watch. Hate seeing my teams lose, especially if it an embarrassing loss. (but I know, I know, true die hard fans watch all games, regardless of how painful they might be!)

After watching the way Oklahoma "managed" that top of the 9th inning last night, I really hope the 3 batter minimum becomes a thing.

JMO...I like what the MLB has done.

The Braves and BaseVols started at the (pretty much) same time last night and the Braves game ended about an hour before the Vols game did.

I think they need to limit the pickoffs like they do in the MLB. The 3 batter min. would be tough for college pitchers though

You’re complaining that you got to watch too much TN baseball?

I'm saying I don't want to watch 20 pickoffs in an inning
It’s the pitchers arm. If he wants to throw it out on pick plays, that’s his business. I don’t feel the need to regulate everyone else’s decisions.

Why not make lead off’s illegal? We don’t have this problem in little league.

Agree. Why change a great game? Really want to shorten the game? Make it 2 strikes for a K and 3 balls for a walk. Or make it 7 inning like HS. Or hit 2 foul balls with 2 strikes you are out.

It should be called “Corporations’ Disease” that makes people want to destroy what other people love and turn it into something no one wanted - out of spite and greed.

I am finally to the age where I can’t afford to leave the house whenever I’m bored and baseball is the perfect medium to enjoy the noise of my son wrecking the living room with his toys.

How’s that going to shorten a game? Would increase stolen bases and runs since the runners will get an extra head start. That will lengthen the game.
